Biggest problem I see?  Whats up with a higher low range?  Kind of defeats the purpose, no?  I don't put my 500 in Low to go 39 MPH, I put it in low to pull tires and get things done.

It's a completely new engine, not really based on the old 800, but it is still a parallel.

I agree, geuss we'll just have to ride one to really see. With 70hp i think she will still have plenty.

I do know it will pull the front tires off the ground at will with 31's up to about 15 MPH in high range.

Thanks bro, I should get it in a few minutes after the military computer geeks makes sure it's not some sort of virus coming from the outside to end life as we know it.......LOL.

And there it is.......yep looks like a parallel, could it be possible to have an opposite stroke to make it sound like a v-twin maybe.

Yeah, your right.......no, I'm older than that, just going from what I was told by employees at High Lifter when they were riding it.

Don't know if it's true, but I heard 31's will fit with minor fender trimming.  Don't know for sure though.

I'd be surprised if it's bug free, but I believe this will be one of the least buggy releases Polaris has had.  Hope I don't eat my words.

The picture on the website is incorrect. They will pull it soon. A guy I know who is at the dealer show confirmed this. It looks like it's a V-twin.

It would be nice if were to turn out to be a V-twin. Somehow I am doubting that will. But I would be happy to scratch that one off my cons list.

Looks like the largest bighorn there was on the maxis website was the 26/9/14 and 26/11/14, Maxis did not have the 2.0s listed so I am not sure if they offer a 27" in that new BH or not.

Other than sound, what can we gain by going to a V-twin as opposed to a parallel?  As already stated, the twins are not as durable with contaminants.

If it's putting out 70 HP, it shouldn't matter if it's V, Parallel or single... we are getting the power regardless, right?

Very true, 70 ponies under your seat feels awesome!  Had to drop a bunch of money into mine to get it that high, sky is the limit with the new motor hopefully.

I can't even phantom what to do with 70 hp.  My 08 800 with its 54 hp is way more then I ever have to use and i'm in the deep thick mud and barely have to crack the throttle to turn my 29.5's.

So the 850 is a ~15 HP jump from PoPo's previous top HP model?  I'm sure those 800's didn't have any trouble with 29.5's, so maybe higher gearing will be made up by 15 extra horses chugging.

We have also yet to see how effecient the new transmission is, if at all, so that could also play a role in the "tire turning" aspect... a big factor in any of my future ATV purchases.

The transmission is more efficient than the old one.  It's heavier though.  The actual frame got lighter, but the engine and tranny got heavier.

In the racing world it helps.

Scott said they have some sort of slip clutch like the Thundercats, so you don't break axles as much.
