Stick an angle finder on these pictures and tell me the bigg difference in lug angle other then the extreme center section which give the Mudzillas a smoother ride on hard pack. And the extreme outside side lugs that give the Outlaws a little more paddling effect in water.

I see mostly a starting angle of around 40 degrees at the mid section of the tread and it tappers down to about 20 degrees on the outlaw and a little less on the Mudzilla. But then my anglefinder may be different then yours.

I see a center section on the mudzillas that offers more lateral stability/traction in corners then the outlaws offer.

I see the center lugs on the outlaws being way to far spaced causing excellerated wear on the tips of the tires which quickly takes away any traction advantage the farther spaced lugs might offer at the center section. Meaning rounded tips don't bite very good.

On hard pack with both tires aired down the Mudzilla offers more rubber on the ground and more bitting edges then the outlaws.

Now the MSTs might be different do to their extra sipping but I don't have them and reports that I have read and heard personally come back that the MSTs are not as good in the mud.

Now after reading a few of the members other posts and a short PM session with him, I have come to the conclusion that he also wants decent mud ability along with performance on hard pack trails.

I can understand Brushhog and his replies but I see some big time biased views but some members that are trying to consitute purchasing outlaws over another tire.

There are many people out there running Mudzillas and I knwo many people that perfer them over the Outlaws simply because they work and wear like iron.

If you're riding alot of mud, Mudzillas are a good choice in my opinion.  I've riden with GWC several times and I can go most all the places he does with Laws with my Mudzillas.  I will say at times I have to work a little harder but Mudzillas are good tires if you ride mud along with minimal trails.  My biggest frustration with Mudzillas are they are difficult to water wheely but I tend to not play in the water as much as GWC does.
I had Maxxis mudbugs before the Mudzillas and there is no comparison between them and the others (589's, Gators, etc) and the true mud tires.
Mudzillas will last as long as any tire out there due to a hard compound which does make them a little squirmy on wet hardpack at times.

i like the mudzillas, but im lookin at the bi's, tri's and the outlaw MST's....i hear that laws wear to fast on hard pack...im   worried that the MST's are gunna have the same characteristics that the regular laws do...im lookin at them for their trail and mud capability...what does everyone else think/

Dude people saying the Mudzillas suck in the mud are biased, especially if someone was to say Bi/Tri's do better. I have Mud B's which are nearly identical to Mudzillas and they are great in the mud. My buddy doesn't go as many places as I can or as far in a hole as I can on the same exact setup exept tires on his Grizzly 700. I have another friend with 28" Outlaws on his AC500m, We go everywhere the other one can.

They are not as easy to water wheely as Tri's (or atleast in my case) but I like to keep the front touching bottom so I can steer more easily.

The only reason I am trying to sell mine is because I want more GC.

Wow, a lot of hate on Mudzilla's! I have a set of 28's and I don't think they're anything amazing, but I had 29.5" Outlaws before and I can go the same places with either tire. As long as it's not in mud without a bottom, Mudzilla's are horrible in bottomless mud.

Also, my Mudzilla's trail ride & wear a lot better than my 29.5's did, though neither one are great on hard pack.

With this said, my next tire will probably be 29.5" Outlaws again, paddle > dig where we ride.

I stated he should not buy Mudzillas OR Outlaws, neither are good trail tires for 75% hardpack rideing.

So is this post about Outlaws VS Mudzillas..??? or trying to help the guy not get the wrong tire for trail riding..??? because a hard core mud tire is not a good trail tire.
and i was not picking on the Mudzillas, they do not handle good they climb like crap and are way heavyer then other tires. Just like most other hardcore mud tires they are not meant to be trail tires.

Now if wants to do 50/50 mud and trails they might be a tire to look at, The closer you get to more mud then trails the more i would look at a Hardcore mud tire for his choice.

mudzilla's & laws are not a good choice for trail riding. I would go with one of these tires Maxxis Zilla's, Mud Bug's, or MST's. All of these tires ride really smooth on the trail and have the goods to get you out of a mud hole if you come across one and want to play around.

thanks  everyone....yea, i just didnt want to go and spend the money  on the mudzillas, before i new if they were gunna fit mi right...im now mainly lookin at the outlaw MST's, but alot of people tell mi that the laws (mudtire) wear quickly on hard pack...im worried that they are gunna use the same rubber compund on the MST's , as they do on the outlaw's...anyone no anything about that

The M/S/Ts will last you a long time they are made from very tuff rubber.

BUT so many people say Outlaws wear fast, Well i have atleast 800+ miles on mine and they look great (i bet there 95% tread still) and i see no reason i wont get another 1000+ miles or more out of them just dont ride them on pavement.

This forum is getting ridiculous.

Rat, good post, and while I don't agree with hardly any of your statements, you do well with backing up your opinons.  And I'm not going to personally bash you or tell others not to listen to you... I see that as plain rude.

to the original poster, Mudzillas, MudMachines, Backs, Laws or Vamps would be a horrible choice for your riding conditions.  Whether or not which one is better is a moot point, debatable but not applicable to this discussion in anyway.

dude my msts are out back stacked up and they look just as good as the day i bought them...2 years ago! and i have rode many many backroad pavement miles on them, went everwhere people went with outlaws an mud nats, and done more trail riding than most...they are a great tire.  i still say they are a aggresive mud tire but you can live with it,plus they NEVER wear out..never. the only time i got stuck at nats was when i was high centering, the msts didnt let me down. they are a excellent choice and im sure ill buy another set sometime..
