4bama1 -> Middle Drive Gear & Busted Cases (7/21/2008 4:23:15 PM)

Happened a week ago and Bardwell Yamaha tore it down to see what all happened.Busted the cases and the usual internal parts that goes along with this problem.I thought it was going to be in the 3600 dollar range but he told me 1700 for parts and labor..
I think that is a good price from what I have heard from other members who had the same problem...
I should have it back in about 2 weeks,so I am going through withdrawl right now...[8|]

I had the same thing happen, I took my mine to lucedale miss an had head work done,mudbuster cam , raptor springs ,686 piston at 10.5 comp and h -beam rod and the alba middle support plate for 2200.I had to pull and reinstall engine though.Yamaha would not upgrade the rod or bering support for me.

JB3231 -> RE: Middle Drive Gear & Busted Cases (7/22/2008 9:13:25 PM)

Is this only on the 660's or also happening to the 700's?

rubicon03 -> RE: Middle Drive Gear & Busted Cases (7/22/2008 9:17:31 PM)

happened to my grizzly at mud nats. luckly same sold me some cases for the low low.

dirtybird -> RE: Middle Drive Gear & Busted Cases (7/23/2008 1:41:28 AM)

RAZORKILLER50 -> RE: Middle Drive Gear & Busted Cases (7/23/2008 2:23:32 AM)

weller racing,or alba,check the price on the middle gear housing for a 07 i split my cases the other day to build a stroker motor and they changed the design in 07 and it is solid allum. not a cast peice

sTa -> RE: Middle Drive Gear & Busted Cases (7/23/2008 8:03:45 AM)

4bama1 you only have 27inch xtrs, what situation were you in, what was going on, were you bouncing really hard? Give us the down low, i mean maybe if you had 29.5 laws or something but your scaring me. Teach me the ways [:)]

Really I thought there was someone on here with an 07 that had a broken middle drive gear. That would be pretty sweet if it really was redone in 07.

Vamped 380 -> RE: Middle Drive Gear & Busted Cases (7/23/2008 1:34:33 PM)

so the 07 660's have a thicker middle gear support?

same -> RE: Middle Drive Gear & Busted Cases (7/23/2008 7:37:12 PM)

I was in four wheel drive hammering across a rocky very soft sandbar when it started to dig.I had my foot on the gas and when the suction from the soft rocky sandy bottom sucked me down it popped.No jumping just popped.
I have over 3500 miles on it and 3 mudnats two Marengo rides and countless foot on the pedal mud rides so I guess I can't cry to much.

THE xtr's are almost as heavy as an Outlaw but with less grip.....

no it is solid aluminum,I dont know how much stronger it is but it looks just like the one from alba my buddy bought for his 05,i do know there is definatly a differance in the material
