thanks. I wont be doing much towing. a little but mostly just driving.

well then get a full size pickup.

IMO, a 5.3 would be great for your use.

I tow a 5x14 trailer carrying atvs/lawn equipment quite often with my 2000 Sierra Z71 5.3 and I have never felt the need for a diesel.

well, except for getting on interstate.

i would like 2 get a diesel 4 the things i haul. i have a 5.3 silverado and it has pulled everything i have put behind it. i build cable towers and it hauls my bobcat and everything else i put behind it with the bigger rear leafs. the most i have pulled behind it has been 12,000lb not including the trailer and that is about all i want 2 put behind it untill i get trailer brakes but thats preety good 4 a 1/2 ton

thats because most the dealers dont even know the law you show them or a rep and they will come correct ive done it with no hassles at all

Well all i can tell you is their are several ford and several dodge dealers within 100 miles of me that FLAT DON'T CARE AND WILL TELL YOU TO SUE THEM>..  One guy with a 6.7 dodge and one with a 6.0 ford that i personally know had their trucks pushed out of the dealership with a pile of parts in the bed and the dealers refused to work on them..   The guy with the ford spent 2 months and several thousand dollars before ford finally agreed to warranty PART of the problems..    On the dodge it was took to a aftermarket repair shop and repaired and the owner just paid  for it as he did not have time to leave the truck broke while he was getting a lawyer..

Trust me that the dealers know of the mag moss act but a lot of them have the position that the burden of proof falls on the vehicle owner to proove that the part did "not" cause the problem..

Now that is not to say that there are not good dealers that will stand behind stuff without a hassle..   I drive 100 miles to get warranty work on my 07 f350 for that reason..    Its just like atv dealers.. their are good and their are BAD in every brand..

trust me alot of them dont ... as fas as getting stuff warranted you just got to talk to the right person

Hey big boy if you can get it done , more power to you..   Try that at some of the dealers i know of and they will tell you take it elsewhere and they don't care WHO you call or WHO you are..   But hey what do i know..  I have only owned 15 or so powerstrokes, a few cummins, and have customers that i do service work for that have hundreds of diesels between their companies, and have seen a LOT of warranty work denied!!   Oh and i have owned a shop for 15 years and a mechanic for 20 or so..     So in closing IF you can get it done GREAT..   You just have not been to the right dealer i PROMISE you on that much..    Have a swell day

Ok.. First i never said i was "awesome"  pretty dang good though   Second.. I encourage and assist my customers in getting warranty work done..  I try to steer them to the  few "dealers" that will tolerate some of the mods..    But i can assure you of one thing the number of dealers that WILL take care of you are FAR FEWER that the ones that will..  And you can spout about the moss mag act all you want,  there is your twisted sense of reality (bs) and the way it really happens..

I am giving as Paul Harvey has said many times  "the REST of the story"  One doesn't have to blindly believe my statements..  All one needs to do is get on ANY of the hundreds of diesel forums and read all the posts from people that have lawyers involved and STILL CAN'T get anything done to their trucks..   This is not just in any one area but ALL OVER THE US..   So just brag all you want but know that there are thousands of people out their paying for the repairs where dealers would NOT WARRANTY their vehicle due to aftermarket performance parts..

This is not to say that the "right" dealers are not out there and that "certain " ones will take care of you..  Best bet is to ask around when you are going to buy and research the ones with good reputations for taking care of vehicles with aftermarket mods on them..

This is the OTHER side and not the SUGAR coated version of dealers vs aftermarket  hi po parts...

My powerstrokes have been VERY good to me ALL of them with the exception of ONE.. and it was still decent but required a few repairs along the way..  One of my psd trucks had 390 k on it when i sold it 6 years ago and it is still going down the road..  Saw it yesterday

Now i am DONE with this thread..  Post all you want with your half truths , sugar coating and such..  This a honest and factual representation of what a person buying a diesel can expect.

Oh and by the way ................................  Have a swell day!!!

you ought to to about half truths every other word you type is one 390 k on a powersmoke is that the 2nd or 3 rd motor? lol jk. anyway dont really matter to me what you say ill continue to  get my stuff warranted. and by the way ima member of dodge diesel org and tdr so your not the only one that thats knows people are getting screwed. im just saying there r several people that r getting there stuff warranted inspite of mods. and they should if the mod didnt cause the problem. and im not spouting anything in the real world where we live not sure where you live we have laws and laws are obeyed and if there not there is a justice system for that. granted not always the best but that is a recourse. ive seen bunchs of people go to arbitrating on their vehicls and win simply cause the dealer couldnt prove the mod caused the problem. and the burden of prove falls on the dealer not the customer. have you ever read the moss  act i bet not cause if you did you would know that. so why dont you steer people accurate info instead of half truths...  have a awsome dayyyyyyyyyy

Trust me that the dealers know of the mag moss act but a lot of them have the position that the burden of proof falls on the vehicle owner to proove that the part did "not" cause the problem..

I've had really good luck with a local dealer, I sent my buddy over there when his tranny gave out(with engine mods) at 69,700 miles just shy of the warranty going bye bye and they put a new valve body and converter for free. So yes there are dealers out there that will work with you. And by the way I did not buy my truck from this dealer.
