I'm a contractor in the communications industry. I work mostly on CATV systems, but I do phone work sometimes. I do it all from building arial plant to noise suppression. I just got into fiber optic spicing last year and I'm really enjoying that. The money is outstanding but the overhead is awfull. The cost of staying up with technology is getting rediculous, but I guess it takes money to make money.

My husband has been doing telecommunications for almost 10 years, he's the lead fiber tech. now and really enjoys it too. The company he works for sends him all over... just recently he was in Wyoming at the Sinclair plant having to do some cables there for a bit. Yeah, the pay is pretty nice. It keeps me from having to work, but raising 2 kids isn't an easy task either.

Working as a logger right now running a Tigercat 640 Clambunk. Not many of them around here and even less mechanics so I run the skidder and also have to run the service truck when anything breaks.

I was working at Nucor steel mill in Charleston,SC as a stick welder. I will take my air conditioned cab anyday over pullin 200 some feet of weldin leads through the mud and muck.

I also run a JD 759 harvester from time to time but it sure aint my specialty. You can put me on just about any skidder and I will pull loads to any deck you want them at

I'm a Fed. Correctional Officer, job sucks at times, inmates are easy to deal with most of the times but the government bureaucracy is what makes this job hard, pay is not bad.
also a part time Realtor, been doing it for 9 years and it pays for my toys, I flip houses every now and then and also have several rent houses which at times it sucks, but again, pays for my toys.

Ive had several jobs over my 16-17 year working career.  I started out in youth apprenticeship in high school which led me into Ford Dealerships for many years, I ran a race engine shop out of my garage for most of those years in the afternoons, I worked for Ford as a technical trainer, I have worked in the custom sheet metal industry for a while (family background), and Ive worked for Honda MC/ATV dealerships for a few years.

I am now a Teacher (going into my 3rd year), I teach the #1 MC/ATV/Automotive high school class in the state of GA.  I absolutely love it!  It is by far the most rewarding job Ive ever had and I refuse to do anything else for a living.  The pay sucks, but I also still run a MC/ATV repair shop at my house where I still do massive custom sheet metal work (such as chassis building and crazy stuff like V8 powered golf carts) and custom engine work during the summer and holidays.  If any of you get the chance to be a teacher of any kind, id suggest taking the job if the opportunity is there.

Supervisor in shipping department of a chemical plant. Been here 27 years this past February. Pay is decent, 4 0n and 4 off, with 5 weeks vacation plus usually a couple weeks of comp time each year. Another 2.5 years and it'll be 6 weeks vacation. Working this shift work makes you budget your money because it's so easy to spend on all your days off.

Well I am a stay at home mom of a 16, 13, 12, and 7 yr old. It gets pretty hectic some times. I am also watching my 9 yr old neice for the summer my sis is a single mom and works a full time job so I cut her a break and dont expect her to pay me a red dime because I have been in her shoes before. I also occasionally watch my 7 yr old neice and 2yr old nephew because my mom takes my other sis to Galveston more than several times a month because her 1 yr old baby has an undeveloped brain and has seizures and quits breathing alot. So i cut them a break too.

Structural/Mechanical designer mostly structural work lately. Love My job, i get to draw structures in 3D for the Energy/Oil sector and make fabrication drawings as well when needed. Plus the pay here in the houston area with the big energy boom is hard to beat right now.

I am a full time correctional officer, work nights and like them, less movement more sitting on my butt  watching cameras and popping doors. Work half the year and it pays the bills for now, till finished with degree.

On call basis I pick up the deceased for the local coroner's office, once I think I have seen it all, I am proven wrong...

Also to help stepdad at times I work for his dirt business, now that is fun... PLAYING IN THE MUD and GETTIN PAID TO DO IT!!!
