i was talking to a guy the other day he had a 05 cummins with a tst programmer i think he was saying how he got this smoke switch i didnt believe him at first then i looked it up . what is the deal with these ?

650twin -> RE: TST SMOKE SWITCH (7/14/2008 7:37:29 PM)

on the higher settings it dumps fuel in at lower boost ... stomp throttle and viola rolls smoke

PRAIRIEMAN -> RE: TST SMOKE SWITCH (7/14/2008 8:28:53 PM)

And viola so does the money you spent on fuel

hightechredneck -> RE: TST SMOKE SWITCH (7/14/2008 8:42:06 PM)

ya very true but i have to say i like the set up this guy had it was pretty cool he had a switch and he just hit the gas and a bunch of smoke came out its one of those things that makes you want to show off even if its almost 5.00 a gallon to do it . work all week **** got to have some fun if its 5 dollars and a bunch of black smoke i think thats cheap intertainment for a weekend.

mudder500 -> RE: TST SMOKE SWITCH (7/14/2008 9:40:26 PM)

Yea its nice but sure does a number on the bumper and ur wallet. Mine would poor smoke on my old smarty tune but with the new it wont. Makes more power now!!

Tan327 -> RE: TST SMOKE SWITCH (7/15/2008 12:13:23 AM)

You can create a smoke tune with tuning software, you can actually add a lot of smoke and gain little to no performance. It's just for fun! [image]http://www.highlifter.com/forum/image/s2.gif[/image]

CTownForeMan -> RE: TST SMOKE SWITCH (7/15/2008 9:26:34 AM)

Around here the cops arn't to friendly when they see black smoke.  It's a enviromental thing.

hightechredneck -> RE: TST SMOKE SWITCH (7/15/2008 9:37:39 AM)

down here in florida they dont really dont say anything .

650twin -> RE: TST SMOKE SWITCH (7/15/2008 12:01:36 PM)

around here they ask to see it [:D]

1badkitty -> RE: TST SMOKE SWITCH (7/21/2008 9:43:37 PM)

ive been pulled over for it. I just got a ticket for my straight on my truck last friday. Bad thing was i wasnt even being loud i was only runnin like 40. he got to here that 6 speed though when I left with that 10" tip lol.  I ca roll smoke out for days on my truck also. I got a smarty wit the race version on it and other mods.  smoke is heck on a bumper though. it will like eat away the plating on your bumper lol.

mudder500 -> RE: TST SMOKE SWITCH (7/21/2008 9:46:03 PM)

Yes i know that first hand. Now i just cant get it out of my bed[:D]. Straight pipe in Texas is a nono[&o]. I got pulled over too

Texas_Outlaw -> RE: TST SMOKE SWITCH (7/28/2008 1:35:58 AM)

The smoke switch basically fools the ECM into thinking the truck is under full boost.  All you do is tap one wire into the Vref going to the map sensor (5 volt reference sent to the map sensor) , run that to one side of a switch, run a nother with from the other side of the switch to the Signal wire from the map sensor (Wire the ECM monitors MAP voltage or "boost pressure").  When the switch is activated the ECM see's the engine is at full boost, then fuels harder and viola, theres your smoke.  From what I have seen, on a stock truck it didn't make much of a difference at all but a truck with a programmer or box on it will throw out some extra smoke.

durallymax -> RE: TST SMOKE SWITCH (7/29/2008 7:05:05 PM)

You guys are missing the biggest problem with smoke.

Engine wear. All that soot is really hard on the sleeves and rings.

Smell your oil the next time you change it. It most likely will smell like diesel soot and maybe even feel grainy.

My smoke tune consists of the following.

220% increase in Injector pulse width, 20% more rail pressure, and 4* less timing. It smokes to say the least, and the truck will even slow down sometimes. Thats how little power the tune makes.

If your truck smokes and you like get a FS2500 filter system.  Will help on the oil problem.

durallymax -> RE: TST SMOKE SWITCH (7/29/2008 7:40:18 PM)

that it will.

any bypass filter kit.
