I'm calling BS. You really like to stir the pot dont you honda man? Of course thats what most honda guys like to do. Always bragging and putting down the other manufacturers trying to justify buying overpriced weak junk.

Stock vs stock a Dmax will spank a 6.4
And there is NO way that truck is getting 20mpg unless your on the highway drafting a 18wheeler.

I dont know how old you are honda man, I'm guessing 14-15, but you are hillarious. I bet that lil Honda with those 26's will follow me at least to the mud hole. You need to take a little ride with me in the GMC if you think that a stock 6.4 is scary fast. While your at it come over and I will let you ride the Vinson so you can see what you have been missing.

It won't be long and his dad will wished he would have kept the Dmax.  If he drives much his fuel bill will be at least double his truck payment.

Fast compared to what?  Your 7.3?  I'm sure it is fast compared to what you are used to driving.  For the three diesel trucks on the market right now the Ford just isn't that impressive, it will get beat in just about every truck category by the other two especially in fuel mileage.  I am not loyal to any brand nor do I think my truck is the fastest.  I have in fact raced two 6.4's and beat them both.  Go to www.dieselstop.com and see what everybody else is complaining about in the 6.4's.  Hope your dad enjoys his truck and has better luck than others with the 6.4.  Just my $.02.

My 7.3 gets no where near that. To help answer the original question I would say the fuel filter and air filter is where I would start. I have an 05 Duramax and I have to change my fuel filter every 10k miles or it starts getting sluggish.

with any trucks there are going to be bad ones and there are going to be good ones. My 97 7.3 does get 23-25 mpg with the 150 cc injectors from swamp diesel ones and when turned to 200+ on the custom chip I get 17 mpg.   As for the 6.4 we got a bad one with just 2340 miles on it 3,4,5 went out all three where striped. then with 5660 the left 4 cyclenders melted yes melted. they said it looked like someone took a blow torch to them and got splater all over. the truck made it back to the farm in low 4 first then stoped. We have a new motor and tran with less then 6000 miles. Then there is our other trucks and they runs great never a peep. Hope your dads truck just needs a little tlc because they are to dang much money to work on all the time.

Well if your dad really did buy the 6.4 and is buying Banks chip he either lives in a box, doesnt know much or just wants to be dissapointed.

Sure the 6.4 is newer and its quick. But im being completely unbiased here. Even diehard ford people can agree that the LBZ duramax is simply better than the 6.4 The 6.4 is anew motor. The LBZ is a tweaked motor.

Now the Banks chip just puts the icing on the cake. I bet that truck will run an 11 second quarter mile after he puts that on.

Oh and there are plenty of numbers showing that stock for stock the LMM beats the 6.4 in the quarter mile. And its rated to tow more too. Its all in the numbers

Theres no way you get 24mpg towing especially with a 7.3. I dont know anything that will get 24mpg towing.

As for the stock tranny comment. We run the Edge on teh 80hp setting while towing 40,000lbs. Its hard on the trans, but Im working on getting the old man to let me throw a Stage III Suncoast w/1056 in it.
