yeah the crank doesnt like sand and water. IF you dont have a filter on it, orielly's has them for 12.99 for the stainless steel one. i would put it on there.

Got mine up top with filter (Greenhead special) so I don't get mud in it, lol

ya, we call it elanor...  I have made it through it a few times, not so much that time.

There is a video of me going through it on you tube before I got stuck on the third time through.

Another thing I did was install a rubber snap tite drain plug from a boat on the bottom of my air box so I can quickly drain any water that get in if need be.

so I am wondering, what is the best way to keep the water out ???
I've got my snorkels coming out of the little compartement behinde my speedometer, would it be better to run it in ther with a filter or is ther a better place? and loops how many loops should I run in the hose?

one loop will do, run it up on the console like mine in the picture above.  You want it out of the box.  Read above ^

How big of a loop and should the loop be high or low?

Put the loose loop just under the console.

Even though mine is in the airbox, I have clear hose with two loops in it.  I just cable tied loops in the hose.

How do the loops keep water out if the filter was to go under? Do the loops only work when the filter is outside of the airbox?
