Trailhunter -> Bring back the shine (7/4/2008 3:56:44 PM)

Well ive read a bunch of threads of spiffing up plastic on quads lately and ive tried a few different products. Ive tried mop and glow...which is a wait of time IMO. It looks nice for awhile then it looks worse than before you put it on. Its made for floors and thats it. I did the plastic renewal on my old 450 and same result as mop and glow but 10 times the work.  I read up on SC1 and it sounded promising. So $10 later  here's my results....
Before it was washed..
Battered and beat up

It really does a nice job. Way better than anything else ive used.  Now i know how Yamaha makes their quads look so good in there adds in magazines.
It really works well on the surfaces that don't have a lot of scratches and scuffs. It shines better than new in those areas

the best thing I've used so far wodld probably be either Turtle F21 or Black Magic ultra shine tire cleaner.

ole Dixie 450 -> RE: Bring back the shine (7/5/2008 8:33:37 AM)

mudd_slicer21 -> RE: Bring back the shine (7/18/2008 10:25:39 AM)

quick question, did you spray it over your rack or does it even matter and how many coats did you put on and im guessing you rubbed it with a cloth or somethin after you sprayed SC1

ole Dixie 450 -> RE: Bring back the shine (7/18/2008 2:01:34 PM)

Yea, just spray it on and let it sit for a minute. Then rub it with a cloth.....and....Watch it shine!!!![;)]

mudd_slicer21 -> RE: Bring back the shine (7/18/2008 4:44:03 PM)

pinemtnbrute -> RE: Bring back the shine (7/22/2008 10:05:47 PM)

i use a vehicle polish calld ice,i think thats the whole name. anyway i get it at the auto parts store. it can go on plastic or metal or anything,it worked great

BRgrizz -> RE: Bring back the shine (7/23/2008 2:49:31 PM)

SC1 is some good stuff.  I have gotten it from several different dealerships and parts stores.  after a good coat of this stuff, the first few muddy water holes you hit just slide right off the plastic, much like a wax job on your car. It is a little pricy, but it definitely does a good job.  My bike is 2 years old, and still shines like crazy.  i find that it does a better job when you leave it on for around 30 minutes as opposed to just one.  Just my experience!

dirthound -> RE: Bring back the shine (7/24/2008 10:50:06 AM)

Try X-Tream Clean Quick Hit Detail Spray.  Works the best of anything I have ever used.  Doesn't take a lot of spray and really shines, helps get the dirt off easier and you can get it from High Lifter.
