Jfree -> What would U do? RZR in shop now for 14 weeks. (6/24/2008 8:22:57 PM)

My dealership has had my RZR for 14 weeks now.  Ive heard every story in the book as to why they haven't fixed it yet.  I 1st took it in b/c it was difficult to go in and out of reverse and grinded alot in b/tn gears.  Then it suddenly had no reverse.  My son was driving it at the time and swears that he did nothing wrong.  I took it into the dealership on April 6th, it took 9 weeks for them to look at it and then their mechanic took a 2 week vacation (while the owner was @ the Polaris's Headquarters and unknowing to the owner or so the owner says)  and to this day it's still in a million pieces.  The transmission case was cracked upon inspection and last week after I threatened to call Polaris customer service the dealership called me back and said that they had just ordered a new transmission for it but they were still waiting on an adjuster.  As of today they they are still waiting on an adjuster to come and authorize the work.  I did purchase a 2 yr warranty on it.  I call them about 2-3 times a week and have talked to the owner on several occasions and still I get the same answer.

So my question what would ya'll do?  Call Polaris customer service or continue to try and deal w/the dealership?

Thanks for everyone's input, I'll call Polaris tomorrow and the dealer in Shreveport is Louisiana powersports.

TomBFL -> RE: What would U do? RZR in shop now for 14 weeks. (6/25/2008 7:22:20 PM)

I'd summarize the timeline of when you called and what bs you were fed and put it in a letter to them too while you're at it. cc to polaris service.

mr. potato head -> RE: What would U do? RZR in shop now for 14 weeks. (6/25/2008 10:50:06 PM)

thell them to keep it,  and you want a new one, or your money back.  it wont work, but will prolly get them off their assets.

GunRunner -> RE: What would U do? RZR in shop now for 14 weeks. (6/26/2008 10:51:37 AM)

Be sure to make them or polaris add that 14 + weeks in writing back to your warranty. I would also ask for some kind of compensation, discount on parts or future services, and I would not have waited over 4 weeks before contacting polaris and raising cane, do it now!![:D]

Then the only one your hurting is your credit.

Remember the dealer already got his money from whoever financed it.

Now here's the rest of the story.  I know the owners of La. Powersports personally that's why Ive tried to be so patient with them.  Shreveport is a small town and haven't wanted to rock the boat.  But that boat is sinking and Ive had about all I can take friends or not.  I did talk to the main owner today and told him I wanted it back by July 3rd (gonna be out of town on vacation until then) and I will be there to pick it up rather its ready or not.  He told my that Polaris has yet to approve the warranty but that he's doing the warranty work anyways.  He aslo said that it should be ready to role by then and that he's replacing the transmission not just rebuilding it.

He then said that Polaris wanted a picture of all the gears inside and wanted to send him a case (the other case is cracked) and that they wanted to rebuld it not to replace it.  He said that Polaris pays only pays him 7 hrs to replace a transmission or 8 hrs to rebuid and that as of today his mechanic already has over 20 hrs in it  and how much money he's loosing on this deal and that this is the 1st time they've had to rebuild/replace a transmission.  I said I would not accept a rebuilt transmission anyways and the only way I'd accept it is if it was a new one.

I'll keep everyone updated on my situation.

Louisiana Powesports is not a joke of an establishment and that remark was not needed at all. While I fully admit it does take them a bit too long to get work done (And trust me I have plenty of first hand experience dealing with their service dept) they are honestly trying as best they can. I just got my bike back from them after 3 weeks of being in there for an ECM recall replacement and a busted ball joint. Their wait time is a bit excessive but this dealer is the only one within about 30 miles that services Polaris and Arctic Cat  (the nearest to us is in Marshall TX) and they are always swamped with work in their shop. They only have either 2 or 3 actual techs (which David really needs to hire at least one more)  but the sheer volume of bikes going in there for repair is huge because they sell quite a bit and have outstanding customer service which is why alot of people do business with them. Not to mention also the adjuster for Polaris that deals with this area is a jerk and is not forgiving or relaxed with the warranty policies. I am in no way making any excuses for them but they support our hobby as much as possible and other than wait times I have been fully satisfied with their work.

20 hrs to replace the transmission. You could tear the whole engine and transmission down and put it back together in 20hrs.I don't think I would want him working on anything of mine.

So... how are they not a joke? Your comment answered nothing about how they aren't a joke 14 weeks, I don't care thats INSANE. Learn 2 run a business I would drive well over 2 hours to get my rzr back even a week sooner. I drove 9 hours to buy my rzr so I didn't have to wait a month to get one around here... I also saved a lot of money as well. I would talk to an attorney if it was me, they are jerking you around for way to long. It costs the same as a car, think of it like one. Could you be without your car for 14 weeks and have no ride to work? There is no excuse for this, take it to another dealer before you leave on your vacation then it actaully will be ready when you get home!

Who's fault is it that his mechanic has worked 20 hours on a 8 hour job? It's His for hiring him, as to loosing money, I guess he forgot about all the profit he made on you when you bought it and on everything you bought from him for it.

Lets all cry for the dealer        [sm=106.gif][sm=biglaugh.gif]

Agreed...  If the dealer has that much business, then they need to expand.  13 weeks does sound like good customer service.  If it is, then my customers have set their expectations WAY too high.  You realize that is over 3 months right?  By the time he gets it back his wife could have conceived and given birth to a child!  After 2 weeks I would have told them to give it back to me and I would have driven somewhere else.  Texas isnt that far from Shreveport, SURELY you can find another dealer somewhere that will take care of you.  Go pick it up today, they have already screwed you long enough.  If you feel the need to leave it there longer (not sure why you would do that) I would DEMAND some kind of discount or compensation for anything in the future.  Its your money, waste it how you want, but 13 weeks..... come on..

H20 -> RE: What would U do? RZR in shop now for 14 weeks. (6/27/2008 8:26:03 PM)

The only reasonable thing for the dealer to do at this point is,#1 as stated above, to add a minimum of 14 weeks back onto the warranty. #2 if there are any charges ie; fluids, bolts, clips etc should be covered by the dealer. #3 A loaner unit should be signed over for the customer to use if his is not ready at the prespecified time of July 3. Otherwise go to arbitration with a lawyer.

Jfree -> RE: What would U do? RZR in shop now for 14 weeks. (6/27/2008 8:56:49 PM)

Thanks for all the comments.  I talked w/them again today and was told that the Polaris adjuster was there at that time and they would be calling me back tomorrow with more information.  I asked them why was this not done weeks ago.  They had no comment only that they would get back w/me ASAP.    I have talked w/my attorney (who is also a friend of mine) about this and he told me anytime that Im ready for his services to let him know.  I told him they had until July 3rd to get it fixed and that after that I'll need him and he said NO PROBLEM.

Popoyama- I agree w/what u said that they are way too busy and need more techs, however they've took urs in, fixed it and got it back to you in a reasonable amount of time and thats good for you but for those of us that r still waiting to get there rides back I think its my perogitive to let people know whats going on up there.  IF you've gotten good service from them great but I have not and am pissed off at how long this has taken.  I will not recommend them to anyone else nor will I buy any future products from them and as far letting them service any future problems well that's ABSOLUTELY out of the question!

lapoolboy -> RE: What would U do? RZR in shop now for 14 weeks. (6/28/2008 12:10:19 AM)

Funny to me that you started this thread to rant about the excessively long time they've had your Polaris and every post by you since then has been to defend them.

Any dealer that keeps a bike under warranty for 14 weeks is a joke.  Period.  Apparently, they're shafting you because you know them and they expect you to be patient while they churn out the other "customer pays, money-making" jobs.  I'm entitled to my opinion and the place looks like a dump.  If I ever purchase a Polaris or Arctic Cat product, it won't be from them.  Your comments reinforce that.

I'm trying my very best not to offend you here, but I'm sorry to say that anyone that allows a dealer to keep a new product for warranty repairs for 14 weeks deserves every bit of it.  I've heard it's not usually wise to conduct business with your friends - ends up turning them into enemies.  Maybe you should pick your bike up and take it to Marshall.  It's not like Marshall's hours away or anything.

You asked for opinions and you're getting them.  Don't be offended.  My vote is to pick your bike up and take it elsewhere along with a call to Polaris.  I'd never return to Louisiana Powersports again, if I were you.
