Rumor has it that Highlifters going to travel up to PA for the 2008 Quadfest for their Mud Bogs, is it true? Cause I would make a special trip w/ our group of Rhino's to give you guy a run for your money...lol.

mud_dog450 -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (6/8/2008 9:13:18 PM)

I'd be interested in finding that out as well.  I'd definately make the trip.

BruteChic750 -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (6/8/2008 9:23:32 PM)

We spoke with Randy Miller this weekend and that is true that HighLifter will be at QuadFest.  Not sure about the racing though.  The QuadFest Bog is not a race like ya'll are used to.  We went last year and our Team won most everything but...it was the fastest bike that won.  It was one person that ran at a time and you ran for fastest person out of the bog.  There was NO money involved but there was some small trophies and certificates given.

Hopefully they have changed it and will make the pits more like what we are used to racing in but I highly doubt it.

It is AWESOME trail riding though.  OUTLAWS will not cut it on those trails.  They are nothing but rocky and hilly trails.  Stock tires are the way to go!!  I rode a Popo 800 with 28" laws all weekend and got beat to death.

Do you happen to have any pics from last year?

      I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon, can't wait...

      MUDTECHinc -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/16/2008 5:15:30 PM)

      went last year just don't have the time to go this year. I wish i could be there for the bog. it was a different style of mud racing than what is run in the south. but it is  alright.

      WVSwampDonkey -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/16/2008 5:55:36 PM)

      Cant wait. My bike is setup and ready for the drag races.[:D]

      WVSwampDonkey -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/20/2008 7:19:43 PM)

      QuadFest sucked!!!

      nadep python -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/20/2008 7:55:48 PM)

      Do tell.

      electricstart -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/20/2008 8:07:42 PM)

      Why ,what was wrong?? I was not there.

      WVSwampDonkey -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/20/2008 10:18:47 PM)

      Below is what I posted on a different site.

      I must say that we was lied to about what was going on with the drag races again this year. It was the most poorly run setup I have ever seen. It was bad last year and even worse this year. We was told it would be better but it didnt happen.

      We sat down at the drag races for over 7 hours getting registed and waiting to race. Half the people didnt get to. I drove over 3 1/2 hours just for drag racing and didnt get to race. It was shutdown at 12 by the QuadFest officals. Why was that. There was more noise down in the camp ground than at the races. Some people couldnt stay Sunday and race at 9 am.

      Lucky I was refunded my money for the races and the QuadFest tickets and camping but that doesnt replace the day in my life that was wasted and also the $125 dollar spend on fuel.

      Straight jacket said they wont be back to run the races next year and thats a good thing. 3 monkeys with track uniforms could have made the event more smooth and maybe even finished by 12.

      Jill while I am complaining I want info on running the event next year and what you guys need out of me to do it. I feel I can do a better job for sure and as I have always said if you gonna complain then maybe you can be part of the solution.

      electricstart -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/21/2008 4:27:24 AM)

      OK ,Thanks.

      Rider11x -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/21/2008 10:09:46 AM)

      Quadfest sucked last year too. I camped there all weekend, ran out of trails on the morning of the 2nd day, security chases you off of the trails at 7pm when it is daylight until 9pm......Then they get all crappy when everyone is back at the campground drinking and partying because there is nothing to do until 7am the next day when the trails reopen. I saved myself the hassle and the $50 admission and stayed home this year. It would have been cool to meet the great people at Highlifter, but maybe another time.
      Oh, did I mention the dust? There is less dust problems at Baja races than at Quadfest. The water truck drivers have no concept of how to keep the dust down. The light misting they do lasts about 10 minutes tops.[:-]

      Pappy -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/21/2008 2:00:02 PM)

      Team Highlifter looked good out there. I got some good pics but cant fully share them yet[:(]

      The dust was horrible, but all in all we atleast had a good time.

      chuuxx -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/21/2008 8:26:55 PM)

      I am really sorry I even started this post, I am so ashame of the unprofessionalism of the organization that handled this event. I want to call it cashfest, or dustfest either or they both work.

      This was my first time at QF and my last. My friends insisted I go this year so I did, and now they will no longer being going after this years BS.

      At 7000 entrys at $35 a pop that is $245,000.00 wonder whos pockets its going to line????

      Thats my 2 cents......

      Scionizer07 -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/21/2008 8:57:58 PM)

      I didn't think it was the greatest either, but I was talking to one of the owners and there were only 5000 tickets sold. The vendors and VIPs didn't count. But also, if you didn't pre-purchase your tickets, then they cost $50 at the gate and then you had to pay the $10 camping fee per vehicle, so they made a ton of cash, regardless.

      They limited the amount of tickets to be sold to 5000. So if they sold them all it was a full house.

      Rider11x -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/21/2008 11:34:51 PM)

      Well here is my gripe. They no doubt collect a huge amount of money on this event, but claim to need the non profit groups to run the drags and the mud bogs, making them very mediocre at best. Why not apply some of that money into race promotors that know how to run events the right way, and have the manpower to do so.....AND a PA system with announcers so people know what is going on. It's all take and no give....$35-50 a ticket for 60 miles of trails!!!! Get real!!!!! I didn't go back this year, and plan to not attend ever again, unless dramatic changes are made.....

      BTW, I heard there were well under 4,000 there this year.......Over 2,000 less than last year. The numbers speak for themselves.[:-]

      BruteChic750 -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/22/2008 7:59:41 PM)

      How did the mud pits/bogs look?  Was it a timed race or elimination type?  Last year it was timed.

      How did HighLifter do?

      I am now glad that our team didn't make the trip.  We wanted to go but it would have been a waste by the sounds of it.

      Bully Bomb -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/22/2008 8:19:27 PM)

      I had a lot of fun at the mud bog.  The bog was a lot tuffer this year then last year.  It was still a timed event just like last year.  I didn't stick around to see how everyone placed so I don't know how HL placed (i know they did better then me).

      MUDTECHinc wish you guys were able to make the bog as well.  There is a race near Marks house that is in about 2 weeks that's always fun to hit.  Let me know if your interested.

      Mudchick_Alicia -> RE: 2008 Quadfest in PA (7/22/2008 8:36:09 PM)

      The race was timed... Team HL/Polaris brought home 10 wins

      Brian Robertson
      Alicia Gorman

      Womens
      1st Maggie Robertson
      2nd Alicia Gorman
      Maggie and me were only women who raced in womens class there were a few in the 500 and under

      Open
      1st Maggie Robertson
      2nd Alicia Gorman
      3rd Scott Smith

      RUV
      1st Trey Thomas
      the other rzr who ran him had to be pulled out

      It was a new experience going to PA to see how people do things up there, I can say that I only saw less than 10 bikes with a snorkel and heard many people who didnt know what a snorkel was.
      We definitly saw our fair share of sport bikes and I know I have heard my fair share after Sat night sitting for 6+hrs waiting to drag race.  It was fun thank you Quadfest for letting us come to the event.
