the water pump is on the left hand side of the motor, extend the vent on it to keep mud out of the cooling system

i have my kodiak ripped apart after doing some mudding.  I have been looking for a way to snorkel the airbox without cutting through my tank cover.  Has any body done this and could i get some pics.  I'm thinking about running 2 1" hoses from the airbox and up front somewhere.  the main reason for doing this is because everytime i hit water while the engine is hot my bike boggs down and won't really go anywhere.  I have been told this is from the steam coming of the engine.  As soon as the steam clears the bike runs fine.  I have checked the spark plug and have tried to get it to do it in my yard by spraying the hose right at the spark plug.  It runs fine while I do that.  Hopefully by snorkeling it will get rid of this problem and let me get a little deeper.  I will also at least do the belt intake b/c that sits way to low and takes water just on the approach angle of most mud holes.  Any help on the air box would be great.Bryan02 Kodiak 400
