300 feet wheelie on an 800 Max - For everyone that missed this ride this weekend at Rural Shade you missed one heck of a show on both Sat and Sunday.  The park had an awesome mud bog and mud drag races on Saturday.  Then on Sunday had a great turn out for the sand drags.  Can Am Nationals is going to be unbelieveable this year.

Thanks to Team Gander Mountain for a great weekend - I really enjoyed meeting everyone and look forward to riding and hanging out with ya'll again.  Enjoy the pictures

Notice the front tires of the Brute on the far side of the track.  Not bad for a pipe and programmer [:D]  This was for 1st place - [sm=gun3.gif]

Yeah sure wish I would have made it!!!![:@]  Sure would have been a great oppurtunity to test out the 4" in the pits!!

mpate -> RE: 800 Max Wheelie - Rural Shade Ride (3/17/2008 11:22:19 PM)

There were two or three Limited Editions there in the pits on Sat.  They are awesome machines.  Congrats on yours it looks great.  I am sure if Greenhead is taking care of it, it is in good hands.  The Gander Mountain Team really are great guys.  Can't wait to do it again

mancusocountryatvs -> RE: 800 Max Wheelie - Rural Shade Ride (3/17/2008 11:30:20 PM)

Yeah it sure is in good hands!!!  Thanks Eric for everything!!![:D]

Mikeyboy_esq -> RE: 800 Max Wheelie - Rural Shade Ride (3/18/2008 12:39:15 PM)

Matt,

Good pics...Looks like a fun time!  I'm bummed that I didn't get to go to this event (Rural Shade is only 2 hours and 20 minutes from my house!)...even if my quad was running this past weekend, I couldn't have gone b/c I was stuck at work all weekend.

So did they have mud drags and sand drags?  I don't recall seeing mud drags at last years Can Am Nationals...just the deep mud bog type events and sand drags.  What kind of course was the mud drags held on?  Was it shallow mud/wet dirt or just a deep/watery pitt like they use for the mud bogs?  I still have a set of mud tires that I bought for the (shallow) iron quad challenge mud drags a year ago and I still haven't used them yet! lol

Also, how many folks competed in the sand drags and who won?

Happy trails....:)

mpate -> RE: 800 Max Wheelie - Rural Shade Ride (3/18/2008 12:46:26 PM)

Garry dug two strips for the mud drags - it had about 6-8 inches of water when we started.  I ran it with the Gade on stock tires.  I wish I would have had some small mud tires to run on it, but I ran what I had.  I will post pictures of it when I get home.

There were several that entered in the Mud Drags - I guess about 40 between the kids, women, guys, and RUV's.  The Sand Drags had about 20-25 enter.  The winner is in the picture up top [:D], too bad it is not the black one [&o].

Mikeyboy_esq -> RE: 800 Max Wheelie - Rural Shade Ride (3/18/2008 12:51:51 PM)

That is AWESOME to hear that they have mud drags now at Rural Shade!  I guess I can FINALLY use the mud tires that I bought last year! lol   Do you know if or when Garry plans to hold more mud drags and/or sand drags in the near future?  I would love to come give it a try at that park, and hope I don't have to wait til the next Can Am Nationals to do so.

Sounds like they had a very good turn-out for these 2 events (mud drags and sand drags).  You should feel proud of your strong finish in the sand drags.

So how did you do in the mud drags anyway?  Who finished 1st in the mud drags (what kind of quad)?

Happy trails...:)

mpate -> RE: 800 Max Wheelie - Rural Shade Ride (3/18/2008 1:07:47 PM)

Russell Coker (Team Gander Mountain) won the mud drag on his 800 Max.  I think the Brute got 2nd - is that right Coker?

Garry is planning on other events this Spring - nothing set yet but I will keep everyone posted.

007BF -> RE: 800 Max Wheelie - Rural Shade Ride (3/18/2008 1:16:43 PM)

The brute actually got 3rd, he had a bad start and the bike began hopping really bad.  The red 800 with 28x12 ....'s was 2nd.  Chase's 800 was a beast in the mud drags!

Once again we enjoyed the company Matt, hopefully we will be seeing you and the family at Nats.  Nice pics!  I'll post a few from this weekend that Brenna took.  She has 1 or 2 vids of your X in the drags I think.

Mikey, Gary is open for whatever the riders enjoy participating in.  The mud drags were a hit this last weekend, he threw that together the morning before the bog.  For the events, Rural Shade might be my favorite park to race at.  Gary did an excellent job as preparing the pit and drags.

Mikeyboy_esq -> RE: 800 Max Wheelie - Rural Shade Ride (3/18/2008 1:32:11 PM)

I have no doubt that Gary put together a good event...I went to the sand drag races at last years Can Am Nats and had a blast.  I look forward to riding/racing there again soon.

Congrats to all of the racers who did well over the weekend...sounds like a very fun event!

Happy trails...:)

Rural shade is located in Kerens, TX just east of Corsicana, TX off I-45.  You can check out their website at www.ruralshadeatvranch.com - this is the home of Can Am Nationals coming Aug 1st-3rd.

Matt, you're blending in pretty good in that last pic!!  I'm sure we can find you some fenders somewhere!! [sm=fart.gif]

mpate -> RE: 800 Max Wheelie - Rural Shade Ride (3/18/2008 9:55:52 PM)

My only complaint about the Renegade is you get muddy [:D]  But the power and fun factor out way the mud any day.  Fenders????  Only if they look good [sm=grd.gif]

007BF -> RE: 800 Max Wheelie - Rural Shade Ride (3/18/2008 10:28:34 PM)

I've got some old truck bed mats, I'm sure with a few zip ties and some baling wire we can have the X all fixed up!!

Your camera takes really good pics.  Really good detail!

Thanks for the plug matt! I got some really good shots of you on your second run in the mud drags. I wanted to get your first run but I had to swap out memory cards and missed your CLEAN run. I will be posting a bunch more pics I took tonight.  While everyone else was practicing racing for the Nats I was practicing taking pics. I learned a lot that day, so if you guys like those pics just wait till after the nats.
