Here is my brute with the hid's and amber outside lights. the pic was taking about noon today and it was really brite outside and you can see how brite the lights are in the middle of the day. I took it with my phone so its not the best pic. I also just finished my snorkles today also.

That all depends on how much you open the socket up.I pushed mine in from the backside.I left it very tight. You're pretty much just gonna hollow out the socket so it is round inside. The HID bulb barely fits in there and I felt real uncomfortable putting the wires into the socket first and pushing the bulb in backwards.Pushing the base in is far easier.

The small igniter tube on the HID bulb has to be straight down. The only thing you might wanna test is the depth to which you put the HID bulb into the socket.Mine and SS worked great at about 1/4" into the socket.

no wonder why mine are so out of focus.I slid them in fron the front side .like fed the wire thru and then straightened the bulb out,I made sure it was  1/4 inch down ...but it was a 1/4 inch down from the wrong dang side!

yes i have it connected to the high beam on both sides and i cut the low beam wire so the outside lights stay on. All the front lights work right, its just the back light and i dont even know where to start looking to fix it.

Someone recently posted about their taillight going out when the headlights where turned on.It had something to do with the wrong bulb in the taillight I believe.

I don't remember where the post is though.

Mine is an 06 and it has the updated buss fix where they seperate the pos and negs but it was still goofed up with corrosion in the rear buss.1157 is the right bulb I think.Dual filament poles are offset on the base.

not yet. i think it may have been the bulb because inside the tail lamp it says 1157 and the wattage to use and the bulb i bought was 1157 but it was rated for more watts. I havent bought another bulb yet to test it but will soon.

anyone having problems with both lights coming on each time?

I just have mine test hooked up and one light will always come on, i can pull power on the other one and put it back on and it will light up also....but they rarely come on together....

does the machine have to be running?  I think I tried that too, to have more power output from the charging system, but don't think that worked either....

will finish the other side here shortly, see if there is any issues, I remember people say that one light wouldn't come on one time or something, but mine don't see to both want to come on, unless I remove power from the one not on and put it back, then it lights up....I have good connections also...i even had it where one light come on, turn the switch off and turn back on and the other one lights up, but not the one that was originally on

yeah, pain....

and btw, you don't need to cut any wires to do this mod, so if you want to go back to stock after time, you can just plug in the connector that came off the main bulb you removed from the stock lights, and spread the prongs on the power connector going to the ballast of the hid....it fits right on there and tight....might have to take a small flat head screwdriver and push in the tab on the white piece of the stock unit to get it to go over the lip in the power connector

yeah, since you use the two outside wires, which are the high and the ground, works perfectly, and i put some hi temp silicon in there, but since there isn't any heat there, can seal it with any silicon...

i left them run for 5 minutes in the garage last night, my plastic was pretty hot, not sure they are much hotter than stock, as I didn't feel them when stock, to be safe, I won't leave my lights on while sitting still for very long

the silicon is drying right now, i'm off work tomorrow, so can get some pics in the evening, need to put it back together and figure a place to mount the ballast, etc., still haven't a good location, was going to make a bracket for each side, may still do that, dunno, figure that out tonight or tomorrow...

i does bother me that the lights are really inconsistent right now, I made sure on all the connections, I used some penetrox to help with the connections, but no change, one light doesn't usually come on and have to flick the switch back and forth to get it to come on, sometimes it doesn't, so not sure what the deal....

i think it takes some power to kick these one, so may have to turn them on and go run it for awhile, maybe need to break in  i'm not sure what the deal is, i know i have the wired good, as i'm a fanatic about stuff like that, funny part is, i can remove one of the power wires from the connector, connect it again with power on, light will come on every time, that tells me its something in the initial voltage or initiation of the ballast that isn't turning on the light every time
