I'm looking at my bulb right now and there are no numbers whatsoever on it.It is a dual filament wedge type bulb but it is pressed into a metal base.

The stock base is a one off for Kawi. There is no plug and play or cross reference bulb out there.

FTR both of my stock bulbs are intact as are the metal bases that go intot the plastic base. The wires to the base of the bulb are cut though.

Mark, I have a brand new set of bulbs here, as I'm going to modify them before removing the ones out of the machine and can go back to stock if needed.

There is no numbers on the bulbs.  The housing the bulb is in has the numbers:

TBT
LL

listed on the side...

Yeah there the slim ballasts but it really doesnt matter because i have the 50 or 55 watt kit on mine and it has the big ballast and they mount in the same location that i would have mounted the other ones. The ballast part isnt the bulb part, its the power pack supply so it doesnt really matter.ill sellthem for 100shipped because thats what i have in them or will install them for you for185 if you bring me your bike.Theres a few other people on here from this area.Do you have any good riding places in rosedale or a bunch of people to ride with?

ok guys, what color is the low beam and what color is the high beam wires?  nobody answered that in this thread, which would be helpful for us that are still going to install....

early in the post, one person said that the low beam is the red w/ yellow wire, then you guys are saying to cut this to have the outside light on when i low....and some said that you wired your HIDs to your low beam wire....

so, does it make sense to wire the HID to the 'hi' wire and then cut the red w/ yellow striped wire to only have the outside lights on in low?  Kinda confusing what you guys wrote in here...

Of all the people to ask this again..lol

These HID kits are only one beam.We all hook them up to work on the high beam setting.
Clipping the red yellow stripe wire will leave the smaller outside lights on the low beam setting. They will still light up on the high beam along with the main bulb.

There are three wires going to each bulb. The red/yellow is low beam, black/yellow ground, and the last one is high. I was wondering the same thing and couldnt find it in the post. By the way thanks to Stockstinks and shore for all the help on this thread. The lights are awsome.

Here is all I did:

I pulled the stock harness off the main bulb. There are three wires that go into it.Two are hot when on and one is ground.Find the hot one when the switch is on the high beam setting and plug the HID wires into them.I never clipped any wires I just slipped them together. Its a male female splade plug.I siliconed the wires to hold tight and wrapped them.I then clipped the red w/yellow wire at the headlight harness plug.Viola!!

Yeah Terry, I'm an electrical engineer, so i'm a geek, but also a perfectionist, i figured out what you guys were saying, just wanted the colors, so the first time i pull it, I'm already there...

I looked at the schematic last night in the service manual, so figured it out, realizing that the black wire isn't just black, its black with yellow or white stipe or something....

going to do the mod probably tonight, what I plan on doing, have everything read to go, go out in the road, nothing glued or siliconed in, and rotate around the bulb to get the best beam, then silicon it in....

one question, when you drill out the recepticle, do you put the bulb in from the backside or put the wires through from the inside, do they fit?  I didn't even look at the connectors yet on the kit...

That all depends on how much you open the socket up.I pushed mine in from the backside.I left it very tight. You're pretty much just gonna hollow out the socket so it is round inside. The HID bulb barely fits in there and I felt real uncomfortable putting the wires into the socket first and pushing the bulb in backwards.Pushing the base in is far easier.

The small igniter tube on the HID bulb has to be straight down. The only thing you might wanna test is the depth to which you put the HID bulb into the socket.Mine and SS worked great at about 1/4" into the socket.

ok, thanks....

i will check the differences in the depth, if I really get energetic, i'll take pics of the affects of different depths...

I can't wait till I go on a night ride, everyone with a Brute will be asking why my lights are so bright.
My HID's are at least 3x as bright as my bro's 07 750 on high beam.
This is a realy cool mod if you do any night riding.
Plus, IMO it makes it ALOT safer to ride at night
