Nope. marine grade radios are a joke. They just coat the circuit board to keep the humidty off. Water will still destroy them.

I look at it this way - if I stay in the water like I do, why spend extra money for marine stuff that is gonna go out like anything else.  Get the inexpensive stuff, when it gets damaged, throw it out and get something else.  And no, a cover doesn't make you safe.  It just keeps the weather and spray from hosing off from getting to the head unit.  Submerge it, and it's toast.  They aren't completely sealed.

Hey, don't laugh at my "snorkeled bandpass" box.  It is an idea that WILL become reality.  I can't be like pinky - that's a nice box in the bed of his Rhino, but it wouldn't last one ride with me.  Here's why

Notice, the current stereo is in the roof.  Notice the height of the snorkels.  I have completely submerged this ride once already in the 7 months I've had it.

my question about this is I've got a Oddyssey (SP) PC680 in my bike and I just bought a 200 watt Sony CD player and 4 clarion 6.5's.  I'm gonna run power directly from my battery to a battery disconnect switch using wire about the same size as the wire for my winch, surely surely that'll flow the juice I need to power that deck and those speakers right?

Fiberglass is really no problem..just takes a little patience..I'm about to mold me one up hopefully before Mud Nats..my question is...where do you find the power supply adapter that plugs into your cigarrette lighter on your wheeler and wires into the radio? I don't really want to wire it directly to my battery..

Mine is wired directly to the battery but I have a plug under the box for when I want to take it off I just unplug it.  Also, I'm using a 6 gang marine fuse block with ground plugs inside the box for all my power so its fully fused and protected.

You will have no problem with that set-up. AS a matter of fact, you can use alot smaller power wires.

The box isn't small. Trust me. But it really needs to be in a bandpass box to get some real bass in an open space. Is rocked hard in that box when I set it in the back of my Titan. Gonna redesign it if I don't sell the rhino. Wanna put 2-15s in a big bandpass box.

ok i see how big the box is now, i didnt see the rest of it the other day, but also if you make i bandpass box, wont you have to snorkel the port or something so mud doesnt get in it???

I know this has been posted before, but i'm about to start the building process on a custom stereo for my bike, ya'll post some pics of custom boxes, i'm looking at mounting a cd player, 2 - 6x9's and 2 - 5 1/4". i'm just stuck in the design process. i don't know what would be the best design for a box with those speakers. let's see some pics.

Not those speakers but here is how I did mine.

Amp is in the gun box and everything controled by I-Pod in Otterbox on Ram mount.

TexasEdition they sell them at WalMarts in automotive around the wiring and light bulbs. There like $4.00 and they have a fuse port already in them. Im using one on mine and it works great.
