Status: offline 		IMO Can-Am and Kawi is Polaris's only competition... more and more people want sport class acceleration and handling in a ute quad. and wow, if RAT is right my 07 is gonna be in the trading post the day those babys come out 80hp AND power steering IN A POLARIS =)

But I would be super stoked to see a "lighter" polaris. So the consensus here is to hold off till 09 or what ....cause I was hoping to pick up a new 800 in may. But i may have to wait keep the info coming Mr. Rat seems like you have a bit of an inside line

Status: offline 		In Vegas when? Polaris usually updates the website w/ all the new stuff the same time the Dealer Show starts. My guess is the end of July, at least that's when it's been the last few years.

Status: offline 		I heard from a local source (not an insider, but affiliated) maybe something in June. I'm hoping for a Sportsman 850 S (s for sport), with basically an AWD Outlaw IRS derived chassis, hi-lo PVT, receiver hitch, no real racks, just kind of a storage area on the rear fender, about 550 lbs dry, weber MPE 750 derived 850cc motor. By the way, PolarisPhil, you said you got an email showing an artist's sketch of some new Polaris quad. Can you describe the sketch again for us? Thanks.

Status: offline 		no it was a survey at survey spot and it looked triangular almost and asked if i would approve of a new motor ranging from 500-850cc, and asked if i was to puchace anything other than polaris what would it be and i said can-am

Status: offline 		Yeap, No one other then the engineers and a few select people will know exactally what will be released until the closed dealer show (dealers only).


Keep an eye on the net though because hints spawn excitment across the net.    There is always things that bleed through but don't expect to see full specs from ANYONE untill after the dealer only show. Even then some things are not released.

Because they have models sitting on the floors at dealerships now. If you know something bigger and better is comming out on a certain date, you will wait, and so will alot of others.

Status: online 		The other reason is to get a jump on the competition. 
If Polaris said they were coming out with a new feature in 8 months, that gives Cat, Can-Am, and everyone else 8 months to develop it and get it out on the market.  Let's say Polaris had told us a year before the RZR came out, then Can-Am, AC, and anyone else would've had a year to come out with something similar.  By not putting the info out there a year before it comes out, that's a year of sales that Polaris has on the RZR that noone else does. 
That's why, when someone like Rat comes on here and tells everyone (including the competition) what he "thinks" Polaris is coming out with in 6 months, it hurts Polaris. 
There have been Polaris employees who have been fired for giving out less info that Rat has given out on here.  If a few certain Polaris people saw some of his comments and were able to figure out where they came from, those Polaris employees would be in serious trouble.

Status: offline 		I don't "Think" nothing. If polaris does not come out with some of the new things then it was because they felt the time was not right or the new things were not up to their standards yet and needed more testing and refining.

I do know a higher output motor is in the works along with power steering.

Requardless, I could careless if they put out a 100 HP 1000 cc motor.

What would excite me into getting rid of my bullet proof 01 models is if they decided to revamp the 500 class with even more get up and go without fuel injection but all the goodies of the HO along with external hubs rather then the centralized hillard.     A slightly longer wheelbase with a removable passenger seat that does not leave a gapping hole to contend with. 

Plastic that does not loosen up after the first 5 min and rattle for the rest of its life.

Oh and for them to figure out how to use the snowmobile sized clutches on the atvs.

If polaris would put the snowmobile sized primary and secondary clutches on the current 800 then most people would not have any worries about power when compaired to some of the other brands.

We would have an even lower starting ratio alogn with a much higher fully shifted out ration.   What this means is even more low end pull along with higher top speeds.

Some people have done it but they had custom housings made to fit the larger clutches.
