BillyMack -> Pistols... (6/25/2007 8:20:54 PM)

What kinda heat you packin?

Thinking about getting one.  Maybe some pleasure shooting, but mostly protection.  Thinking along the lines of:  9mm, .38, .357.  NO revolvers. Clips please! [;)]  The only pistol I've ever shot was my dad's S&W 9mm.  Stainless and pretty sweet.

Any thoughts/suggestions?  I am an avid hunter and have a decent assortment of hunting guns.  I know how to be safe with them.  Just don't know much about pistols. [8|]

Camo500EFI -> RE: Pistols... (6/25/2007 8:33:01 PM)

Sig Sauer P226 in 9mm is one of favorites of my collection. I like high capacity and it can go as high as 17 round mags with it and they don't extend past the bottom of grip.

BillyMack -> RE: Pistols... (6/25/2007 8:33:58 PM)

Sharp looking guns the Kat! [;)]

I don't need/want a canon though.  Smaller than a 45 or 44.  Anyone else?

Micah -> RE: Pistols... (6/25/2007 8:34:07 PM)

Glock 40  or if you in the money a HK 45 its  sweet but expensive

zillad3004x4 -> RE: Pistols... (6/25/2007 8:34:27 PM)

I have a S&W 9mm. very nice gun, very smooth.

BillyMack -> RE: Pistols... (6/25/2007 8:37:04 PM)

I like wood/stainless combinations.

Some say a 9mm is too small.  Why is that?  If I got popped w/ one--I'd  either be dead or going the other way.  (Which is my ultimate goal here) [;)]

Under $500 here.

Micah -> RE: Pistols... (6/25/2007 8:40:02 PM)

I agree with you in not needing a cannon.  Glock makes a 9 which is a good shooting gun I wouldn't hesitate to carry it.

Jeffro -> RE: Pistols... (6/25/2007 8:47:04 PM)

I agree with billymack I've got a model 19 Glock 9mm, and I must say I love it.  Shoots more accurately than my friends .40 S&W Sigma.  When they say "Glock Perfection" they ain't jokin.   Its my concealed carry weapon.  I'm looking at a Kimber but can't afford one right now, plus they're awful heavy to conceal...

BillyMack -> RE: Pistols... (6/25/2007 8:49:04 PM)

Good stuff.  Keep it coming ya'll.

Micah -> RE: Pistols... (6/25/2007 8:49:40 PM)

planobrute -> RE: Pistols... (6/25/2007 9:21:09 PM)

HK 9mm usp compact

Couple of others that will not be made public.[;)]

I have a HK weakness.

elkbow -> RE: Pistols... (6/25/2007 9:24:56 PM)

i'm purely a Glock fan, I have several of them, i carry a Glock 20 10mm when hunting and when riding...

i shoot a Glock 34 and 35 in competition, great guns, wouldn't use anything else for protection

03Foreman450ES -> RE: Pistols... (6/25/2007 9:31:42 PM)

I'm partial to my Glock 17 (9mm) for play.  Ammo is cheap and the gun is light.  But it's the Glock 30 (.45) that stays loaded beside the bed.

BeastMan -> RE: Pistols... (6/25/2007 9:49:07 PM)

I have a AR-15 and a 357. The 357 is a snob nose, great forit size and plenty of take down power.

wv_Z71 -> RE: Pistols... (6/26/2007 5:04:29 AM)

I had 2 Glock 30's, Loved them...Traded one of them for the new Springfield Armory XD-45....Man what a sweet gun...If you are wanting something lightweight and easy to conceal look at the S&W airlite hammerless series..I know you said not a revolver but all you should need is 1 or 2 shots to begin with..Its not like you will get into a fire fight with someone trying to defend your life...I know i would shoot and get outta dodge...and typically you will be in close range so super accuracy isnt an issue...

SALK -> RE: Pistols... (6/26/2007 6:06:53 AM)

Beretta PX4 Storm .40 cal,  Standard with a 14 rd clip and you can purchase a 17 rd clip.  The 9mm comes with a 17 rd clip and they make a 19rd clip for it.   I love mine and I have shot all kinds of glocks, I was partial to the 357 sig glock at one time (i think model 31).  I just like the beretta so much better.

mud monkey 7-4-80 -> RE: Pistols... (6/26/2007 6:58:03 AM)

s&w 9 mm.  It is satin stainless.
My next purchase is glock 40 comp

muddin_lil_sis -> RE: Pistols... (6/26/2007 7:05:15 AM)

my dad bought me a S&W .38 Special, Air Light last year when i graduated from college. its small. he can put it in his pocket and no one would know it. i can put it in my purse and it will never be seen. it pretty much stays in the truck where ever i go. and by the bed at night.

You and me both!  I'm in the market for another Glock right now.
I have a problem when it comes to pistols.  I never seem to be
able to hold on to them.  Too much buying and selling....

ZR2_roost -> RE: Pistols... (6/26/2007 8:19:32 AM)

If you are a small framed person (like me) you will have a hard time carrying anything large and not printing is an issue.  I carry a Kahr P9 (9mm).  Great gun, light as a feather, and the perfect size. Can be bought for $400-$700.
Here is a pic next to my full-size 1911.
