either get a glock in 357 sig or if you wanna blow somebodys head smoove off get a .500 smith and wesson. the smith is pretty big but if you wave that thing around the room people tend to do what you say. if you absolutely positively have to kill every DELETED in the room get an ar-15.

In Louisiana you can't even have a pistol in  your posession unless you are 21. I'm 19, but I always keep a box of .270 bullets and some buckshot in my truck. But it sucks that I can't have a pistol, so for now it will just have to do shooting my dads.

This is not true. Here is the law on it from the louisiana legislature.

§95.8.  Illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile
A.  It is unlawful for any person who has not attained the age of seventeen years knowingly to possess any handgun on his person.  Any person possessing any handgun in violation of this Section commits the offense of illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.
B.(1)  On a first conviction, the offender shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars and imprisoned for not less than ninety days and not more than six months.
(2)  On a second conviction, the offender shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars and imprisoned with or without hard labor for not more than two years.
(3)  On a third or subsequent conviction, the offender shall be fined not more than one thousand dollars and imprisoned at hard labor for not more than five years.
(4)  A juvenile adjudicated delinquent under this Section, having been previously found guilty or adjudicated delinquent for any crime of violence as defined by R.S. 14:2(B), or attempt or conspiracy to commit any such offense, shall upon a first or subsequent conviction be fined not less than five hundred dollars and not more than one thousand dollars and shall be imprisoned with or without hard labor for not less than six months and not more than five years.  At least ninety days shall be served without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.
C.  The provisions of this Section shall not apply to any person under the age of seventeen years who is:
(1)  Attending a hunter's safety course or a firearms safety course.
(2)  Engaging in practice in the use of a firearm or target shooting at an established range.
(3)  Hunting or trapping pursuant to a valid license issued to him pursuant to the laws of this state.
(4)  Traveling to or from any activity described in Paragraph (1), (2), or (3) of this Subsection while in possession of an unloaded gun.
(5)  On real property with the permission of his parent or legal guardian and with the permission of the owner or lessee of the property.
(6)  At such person's residence and who, with the permission of such person's parent or legal guardian, possesses a handgun.
(7)  Possessing a handgun with the written permission of such person's parent or legal guardian; provided that such person carries on his person a copy of such written permission.
D.  For the purposes of this Section "handgun" means a firearm as defined in R.S. 14:37.2, provided however, that the barrel length shall not exceed twelve inches.
Acts 1999, No. 1218, §1.

I am just going off of what one of my friends told me, he is a police officer but maybe he was wrong. I hope so because I am really wanting to get me a Glock.

I got a glock .40 model 23, I like it b/c I can throw it in the door of my truck and forget about it unless I need it.No need to clean it, it hasnt jammed but once since I've owned it (stovepiped)..I just got a Ruger vaquero in 45 LC , been lookin at quickdraw rigs..I'd liketo try some cowboy action comps, but there arent any reasonably close.

Ive got several but my favorite is my Colt 1991-a1 same as the 1911 but newer and I got it all modded out lol. You can drop it in a mud pit, pick it up,and fire away without any issues. It was designed for military use so its rugged as all get out. I also have a Ruger p89 9mm thats a nice weapon as well. Depends if you want to drill holes or blow stuff off lol. The .45 blows off stuff and the 9mm drills holes.

I had a p-89 S&W in 9mm..I couldnt shoot it LOL. The only pistol I'd shot alot then was a glock, and I couldnt get use to the recoil of it.Not that it kicks or anything lol, its just a whole different ballgame than a glock( I was just used to the glock I guess).Nice pistol, but I sold it..

My guns:

Top to Bottom: 16-gauge Stevens single shot, 20-gauge Mossberg pump, 20-gauge Stevens SxS, Iver Johnson .410 Champion single shot, Ruger 10/22, 1911 Colt .45

Another pic:

1911 Colt:

The Iver Johnson .410 (on the black case) was made between 1891 and 1929...but I'm not sure which year...I wish there was a way to look up the serial #.

I have posted this before and have yet to find one of you that has even heard of it.

I bought this to carry as a side arm while hog hunting.

It Is the most comfortable, accurate, and easy to shoot handguns that I have ever owned.

I cannot say enough about how nice this gun is. All you need to do is hold one in your hand and you will see why the creator left Glock to make his own gun.

Here's the link to teir site
http://www.steyr-mannlicher.com/index.php?id=168&L=1

I have it in the 40.  At a cost of $450.00

When I was taking the safety course for my CCP, we had to watch a couple of films where guys got shot and killed during a robery. One store clerk took 3 point blank shots to the center of the chest with a 357. For about two minutes you couldn't even tell he was shot, he picked up a bat and chased the robbers away then died a few minutes later on the floor behind the counter. It's not just crack heads that take multiple shots to take down. It's all about bullet placement.

Beretta 92FS 9mm
I don't leave home without it.

if your looking strictly personal protection and ease of funtionality go with something like the s&w model 60.  it's a 5-shot revolver w/ a 2.5" barrel that is also now made spurless for cc.  the sig sauer 226 and 229 respectively, are great pistols too.  my buddy just got the xd-40 and it's a good looking pistol and seems well built but it is one of the "tightest" pistols i've ever handled.  maybe with some time it will break in.

you guys that are talking about a 9mm not taking people down should think about this. i don't want to take someones life no matter what they are doing when it comes to a matter of shooting someone. i will if i have to though to protect myself or family. shooting someone with a .40 or .45 will definitely open some holes up. great chance they are not going to make it. Perfect caliber guns for home defense. not as likely to go through a couple walls in your home so everyone is protected from misses. i carry a S&W 9mm in my truck bc i don't want to drop someone outside my home. Walk in my home and you'll be trying to dodge a .45 or something more i grab out my room.

Springfield Armory XD45.  For the money, the best, in my opinion.  14 round capacity, very accurate and feels awesome to shoot.  I have owned and shot many 45 autos, and this is my favorite by far.
Oh ya, did I mention .45 acp = knock down capabilities unmathced by lesser calibers...

    osam bin ladem might become our pres. so;

I do not own a fire arm, if you come into my house uninvited I will try to understand why you are doing this and your background that would cause you to do this.or try to hold your hand and sing "**** by ya"...if you harm my family I will call the police and hope they catch you after the @#(holes have done whatever they feel like doing to my family. I DO NOT OWN A FiRE ARM, IAM NOT A MEMBER OF THE NRA....I will not shoot you full of holes w/ the firearms I do not have.  obviosly you are just misguided  and need our understanding and support.....that bulge you see at my waist is not a gun but a empty bottle full of hope that you will see your misdirected frustration at society.....god help you cause........ If I had to adive you on owning a firearm that I dont, get something small and loud.....and practice with it often

It depends what you want for protection are we talking concealed carry or home defense, home defense i'd say go with a hand-cannon or even better good ole 12ga "00" for concealed carry always remember the #1 rule of a gun fight---have a gun! buy something comfortable to carry around ALL DAY, EVERY DAY, you never know when you'll need it.  I have a S&W .38 airweight that goes everywhere I go, and a .40 springfield xd sub-compact that goes instead if Im wearing something i can at least wear a belt with.
Shot placement does mean alot, but there are definately  advantages to a decent caliber. As an emergency room RN I can promise you that a .22, .25. .32, etc. is just gonna p!ss most people off, good placement or not.
