you will have 3 pipe sticking up when done, one for the air box and the other 2 for the belt. the little hoses that are there are for the Gas tank vent Top of the carb vent and the Radiator over flow line.. you will also need to check the carb float bowl drain lines and make sure they are puged off or have a one way check vavle in them..

Mr.650

i made mine fit in there nicely without removing my rad. It's clean and i like it. I used all 2-inch and my top 90 is a 3-inch 90 instede of a 2-inch. I am very happy with my setup and it's bullet proof. it was tested hard at the mudnats..

mark your rig looks real nice, but what is that big sqaure thing coming out?
is that an 06  v2? i ended up with 3  2 inch pipes coming out right in the middle of my pod. i am very precise though, and almost blueprinted the cuts i had to make. no main plastic was cut- only the black pieces that cover radiator and gap below handles. i ran a little of course, and used grey instead of black i have a lime w/ grey trim. so i used sch 40 elec conduit. i used the parts list on the thread, and had everything i needed with a bit to spare. i omitted some parts as each bike builder is a bit diferent. it turned out well though. if i put my hand on the air intake, the bike bogs down so i suppose i did it correctly? between the hours of 10 last night, and 2 hours ago i was able to install the snorkel kit(looks really good and professional) higlifter 2 inch lift kit( i dont think it is 2 inches) i dont agree with the extra brackets they give you to attach to the a arms? what purpose do they serve? if you ride hard, they arent going to hold up? but i put them on there anyway.... i think all a man would really need is the brackets on the springs? i also installed a warn winch on the bike today without an artic cat adapter plate. drill bit, piece of 1/4 plate and some hardened bolts did the trick. so, three big tasks knocked out in a days time. i am proud of the work i got done, i know it was done right, and if i drown out again, it is because i didnt ride the bike right. the bike is ready. bought wheels saturday itp ss 6's and waiting for 28's to come on mail from ebay. ridin buddies was teasin me cause i missed a ride today. didnt tell em what i was a doin! they laughed at me when i drowned out in the pond, but of course, none of them followed.... when i get her totally done, i will post some pics. also when she is done, when i go riding with my buddies, they always ask who is gonna go fist? wont be no askin now, im gonna tell em to follow me! i have exhaust ordered should be here tuesday along with the rear wheel spacers( local place only had one pair. anyway, just wanted to throw A BIG THANKS TO ALL THOSE THAT REPLIED TO MY QUERIES AS TO HOW TO GET IT DONE ! especially GWC. I AM SNORKED NOW!  more addons to come soon as soon as i can decide what else i want without sacrificing too much ride time! still lookin for clutch kit tips by the way.
thanks guys
gyp

650,

Mine is an 07 H1 and i'm like you i did not cut the main plastic's either. I cut the same peices you did. As for a square thing i think you mean my air intake. I used 2-inch like you for everything but i wanted to be different so i used a 3-ince 90. I like the way it looks. If i can get some close up pic's i'll post them. Your job sounds very neat and professional.

Which pipe out of the 3 is generally the air intake?  Im assuming its the left one.  I also thought it could be the center one so i wasnt sure, im hoping to get mine into the center because i plan on making the center a bit higher that the outside ones, for looks mainly, but it wouldnt hurt to have the highest one be the intake lol...

I think it is easyer to keep the air intake on the left side so you dont have to cross over the other snorkel pipes..

Well, I can't seem to leave anything alone.  Before summer, I am going to relocate my radiator.  I figure I'll then have all kinds of room to be creative with my snorkels.  I would like to usa a T or Y and run dual 2" stacks.  Is this worthwhile, or does the fact that it would still run through the factory boot and airbox make duals pointless??
Thanks

It makes the dual pointless pretty much, unless you cut another opening for the second intake into your airbox....Most agree that once you Y or T off that you only gain the benefit of the single chamber of the fitting.  Which means if you run two (2") intake snorkels that "Y" into a single 2" hose that leads to the airbox then youre only getting 2" of air instead of 4" that actually makes it to the box.

Funny thing is that AC must've thought about the same thing, because i noticed when i pulled that useless box off my H1 that it had a capped end that was in the same size and location as the real intake hole for the hose that eventually does actually run to the real intake box.

To anyone out there that has snorke'd their 700. Did you use a 1.5" reducer anywhere on the airbox. I don't have one on mine and it seems to run fine. I was wondering if 2" would make it run lean, though. I found out that the EFI does not compensate for changes in intake b/c their is no exhaust O2 sensor.

Yes. Like my '03 I thought about using silicone but that would be a pain when I wanted to clean the air filter.

It depends on what you want to do.. The 500 manual is the eaisest bike to snorkel... is yours an auto or manual? Take a look at GWC's bike... or KScowboy... there 500's are set up real NICE!!

I am about to start on my bike but I do have some questions.  Is it necessary to snorkle the vent lines when I run the intake snorkle?  Also GWC, I see you have two pipes and some sort of filters on the ends.  Is that mostly for looks or is it for function?  And do you recommend running one pipe or splitting it?

I'm going to post for GWC, His snorkels are for performance the 2- airfilters are for performance. I have ridden with GWC and his quad is top notch. I have a system that is designed for the 02/03 500 i's.  GWC will be by to commit on his set up soon.

its a tough call, i took my air box out and then put my filters on the ends of my snorkel pipes. i like this set up better because i was allways worried about the seal leaking on the stock one even though its pretty good set up. also the more air you can get to the motor the better. the motor is just a big air pump and the more air it can take in the more fuel you can put to it  and get some more power out of it..
some dont like the idea of no air box and that cool as the regular snorkel set it works good as well and who knows how much more power my set up is giveing as i never put it on a dyno...
if nothing else its different and i like the way it looks
