I got to thinking, would a wolverine seat and fenders fit on a 95 kodiak without too much trouble? Also is a wolvy's exhaust system the same as a kodiak's?

I dont think the fenders and seat will fit.  I also am pretty sure the exhaust wont either.

Dang I thought all the old bigbears, wolvy's,and kodiaks used the same frames. Well since a wolvy hmf wont work what kinda hmf should I get that requires the least modification.I see that superttrap makes a idsx for it but they aint worth $322.

Im not real sure what HMF to use.  The 400 BB will be way off cuz it has a funky angle right at the head of the pipe.  SOmeone else may know but you will for sure have to modify something to make it fit.

I modifyed a HMF off of a 00-02 kodiak. you have to cut the pipe off the can and rotate it and re weld it and then make new mounts for it.

Wow, that is a nice looking Kodiak. I wish I could find a new old stock yellow/black body for mine. I have only seen a few yellow ones. Most of them are red, green or gray.

Mud Man,
I hadn't seen this thread until just now. I'm at work so I don't have access to my picture files. Gotta '98 Kodiak that you couldn't buy for love nor money. The only reason I upgraded was because I've had back surgery and the IRS on the new bikes lets me enjoy riding again. Course I DID enjoy crawlin thru everything I pointed it at. Mine's smokin just a tad and you've given me some great ideas for what I want to do with it. I'll post pics tonite when I get home. I've got pics on here somewhere, but I can't remember what thread it's in. BTW I have never even heard of a yellow one. but I like it! LATER

Welcome to the site Grizzly 400. Nearly anything that will fit the Big Bear 400's, like jet kits, cams, Big bore kits etc will fit the Kodiak 400. The top end of the engine is the same. You have to modify stuff like pipes, but its not hard to do. Mud Man AL has a Big bore kit in his. It brings it up from 386cc to 435cc, IIRC.

Yea there are several big bore kits and stroker kit out there. **** has big bore kits and stroker kits. Powroll also has a big bore kit. You can buy wiseco bigger pistons but they only come in half a mm over and a full 1 mm over but they are stock compression. JE has a stock bore and then a +2mm which is 85mm in 10.5:1 and 12:1 compression. I would not recomend a wiseco becuase they are stock compression. I have the 85mm 10.5:1 JE and I noticed a big difference from the 84mm wiseco I had in it before.

anybody know what it'll take to have a big bear professional brought to the USA? looks like 2005 was the last year for them and some shops in the UK still advertise them online....

what about canada? wasn't the big bear pro sold there recently?

Tons of good info here but don't jump in too quick on the mods cause if you're like me you'll change your mind 42 times before you decide which direction ya wanna go.
