WOW Trap, I just checked out my swingarm and I am missing 1 bushing and the other is not in very good shape.

You taking yours off?

Know offhand how much the bushings are?

Yea nice pics, but what was the point of this? Are you taking it off, or were you missing something, or was it just to show people the parts? Not being sarcastic or anything in any way, just wondering.

Minjin,
I don't like the handling without it on...so I'm certainly putting
it back on for now.  I'm just replacing the crappy rubber bushings
with some poly ones.  Beyond that, I'm still mulling over the Durablue
bar.  Still not sold on that yet though....

As for the replacements I'm using, they are made by Energy Suspension
and sold through Summit (and probably elsewhere) for about $14 a pair.
They should be in either tomorrow or the next day.  I'm anxious to see
if the fitment is correct.  If it is, I'll PM you the part number.  I'm
going to post pics here when they come in.  If you want to go ahead
and see what they look like, the part number is ENS-9-5156R.  Total
damage with shipping was about $23.

They are the 19mm/3/4 inch version.  I've seen a couple of people
around the forums order some in 22mm/7/8 sizes, but my measurements
showed 19mm.  So I'm going with that.  As I said, I'll let you know if
the holes line up and everything looks good.  ANYTHING has to be
better than the sloppiness the rubber stockers have.  Have you looked
at your bar ends where the "linkage" connects to the A-arms?  Some
people have seen breakage on these, but mine still look good.  This was
another reason I was looking at the Durablue bar.

quote:

Yea nice pics, but what was the point of this? Are you taking it off, or were you missing something, or was it just to show people the parts?

The reason was two-fold.  Someone had asked for pics and I also
wanted to show the befores and afters of replacing the stock bushings.
BTW, no harm...I know there was no sarcasm intended.  I was going to
post the reason for the thread when I put the pics up, but I had
to step away from the computer.

I see, I've heard from a lot of reviews that an aftermarket swing arm would aid this bike a lot.
I cant wait to get mine. I already know a million things to do with it.

I warn you, this quad is addictive.  You can easilly find yourself looking for ways
to make it faster, better-suspended, etc.  One reason I like the Kawi so well
is the virtual warehouse of aftermarket goodies for them.  The Kawi quads really
give you a lot of room for tuneability and personalization.  And if your ATV
happens to be your hobby...God help you.

swing arm ? you mean swaybar ? theres no swingarm on the brute unless you get the straight axle 650 not trying to start anything just trying to figure out if I missed something somewhere ?

Bushings came in today guys...but I didn't have time to look
at them.  Had a "mishap" today and it may be awhile before
I get them installed.  I'll bump it back up when I get them on.

Trapper: If you are referring to the Durablue sway bar that can be mod to fit the Brute then please do a rethink.
I looked into this set-up but after more research I was advised against it, as the Dura puts too much stress on the rear axles.

Yes, I know.  I've heard the criticisms.  Hence this statement in my above post...

quote:

I talked to Mike and a couple of others about it.  There was another problem
about clearance and remote reservoirs they told me about.  Thanks though.

Alrighty then!  I'm sure some of you have heard the old saying,
"measure twice and cut once."  Well, apparently I didn't heed
those words.  I wound up getting the wrong measurement
because I didn't zero my gauge.  The correct measurement is
the 22mm...as reported by a few others.  I ordered another set
of the bushings and they should be here today.  However, using
the old set and comparing it to the stocker, it looks like the
bracket will line up well with the holes in the frame.  The Energy
bracket will be slightly wider than the stocker.  Here is a quick pic
of the first ones I tried...
