I have an 05 Brute with 240 miles and I cut my rear connector out last night. It was wrapped up tight in the harness but was totally corroded. I was riding around in the yard and noticed my speedo was going crazy when I was stopped. I knew it was that connector. All is well now, easy fix.

New to the forum, glad to be here.  Would that harness be the reason why my Brute will die all of a sudden either in the middle of riding down a trail after a backfire or just coming out of a mud hole and stopping?  This has happened several times.  Didnt know what the prob would be.....

I've been trying to find out. The dealership is selling them faster than I can get up there. If your able to get your hands on one you can actually feel it in the electric tape on the main wire harness attached to the frame by the gas tank vent.

Cut the wires right at the bottem of the connector and solder all (6) of the black/yellow to eachother, solder all (4) white wires to eachother and all (4) brown wires to eachother. I used liquid electric tape on the wires to seal it up when I was done.

So that's the one? Just cut plug off...sodier...seal it and I'll be good to go right? I ask this cause I'm pretty sure I'm gonna pick up an 07 in a couple weeks.

Also, great posts in here bud. Thanks a lot for this great info.

Did you do the same to the front as well? I didn't see where ya said ya did. I could be blind.

Wow!!!, guys im glad i read this post again, i did not realize that they were still have the same electrical issues with the 06's and im sure to come 07's  i bought my brute in may or june of 05  and until i took it in to the dealer it was a great 4 wheeler, but after it came out of the shop, i had nothing but problems(all electrical), my case rests........as much as i loved my brute i will never own another , due to all the work that has to be done to them right after you buy one

I don't know if the 07's have been taken care of by the factory. I doubt it. I didn't do the front one nor has many others. For some reason it does not cause problems.

Will the buss fuse cause problems with the fan not kicking on? The breaker looks good...

Got someone now having problems with an 05 that could be related to the front. It's up to you really. I have not done my front yet. Just waiting for a really good excuse to have to remove the front plastic. Know what I mean?

On nutmegs brute, we got the buss fuse. We don't see the yellow/black going into the buss fuse. All we see are the whites and brows. Do we need to worry about the  yellow/blacks?

No, he must have an 06. The white ignition wires are corroding in them causing problems though. I'd eliminate the connecter and solder the browns and whites seperate.

okay, we solder all the whites together, all the browns together. We also ran a vent hose up to the handle bars for the gas tank vent. We will let you know how it comes out after we are done.

yeah i found out the hard way, my brute died!!............i got it to the dealer and they replaced my wiring harness and eleminated the connector by soddering the connections and heat shrinking the problem. my fan wasnt working, so i wired in a switch and i just leave it on. my display would show that i was in neutral when i wasnt and when i did put it in neutral it would die. then it wouldnt start in neutral.....the only way it would start is if i had it in gear with the brake held. i had a bunch of electrical problems, but since the harness has been soddered i have had zero problems!!
