yeah got a buddy that will sell me his 1187 for a good price but I'm leary about it. He had some problems when he first bought it and had to send it back. Since he got it back its been shot 4 times just testing it then put in his attic. So not sure about that one.

I'll check out that benelli super black eagle and see what its about.

I'm looking at a Beretta 3901 Statesman 26". Anybody know anything about this gun?

Remington 1100, sweet shootin gun at a fraction of the cost of those fancy named pieces. I dont even know if they still make em.You can usually pick up a nice one in a pawn shop for 3-400..

Beretta's are good guns, just kinda pricey.Never really liked 'em much myself. As far as the 11-87 that your friend has,if it'll eat 'em and spit 'em out without jamming,I would go for it.Run you a mixture of 2-3/4 and 3 inch shells through it.Mix 'em up.If it'll eat all of 'em,your probably good to go.If you have any concerns after that, you can always have a gunsmith go over it.The Remington gas systems can be kinda finicky if it's real nasty from being shot alot and not being cleaned. The inertia driven guns like the Benelli eliminate this as they work off the recoil of the gun,not the expelled gas.The trade off is more recoil with the inertia driven gun.

Oh yeah

As much as I hate to say it, considering I own a Benelli, my second favorite is my Mossberg 835 ultimag pump.

I have a Browning Gold Hunter - Stealth Edition
It has a few years on it and has always worked properly.
Had an 1187 and a 870 before both were good guns as well.

Got an old 1100,,,, bout 30 years old now,,,,, still the best dove gun I've got,,,,, I use a Mossberg 500 for ducks and geese around mud and water,,,, don't take the 1100 into the nasty stuff and it still shoots as good as the day I bought it.

I own a 30 year old 1100 12 guage that has never let me down. I killed a 10 point with it in 1980 that scored 156 B&C typical. Last year I figured it was so old I better get me another one, so I bought a 870 wingmaster pump. I love it. Took it to a pheasant shoot last year and was nailin them suckers. It has the interchangeable chokes so I can use it for a lot of different things.

I'm also thinking about a new 12ga. Have a Benelli M1 field with a 24" and I love it but wanting something that shoots 3 1/2". I think that i'm going to go with the Winchester Super X3 Waterfowl.

I use my smokepoles as tools, I use them! So I carry the synthetic Mossberg. Shot the 3" pump for about 10 yrs. It went in the mud in Catahoula lake several times and always served me well. When I replaced it, it was worn and I got my money out of it. So well that I bought the new 935 ulti-mag. Shoots well, swings well, I am very pleased with it. Mossbergs are cheaper but they have been around for a longggg time for a reason!!

My buddy has a SX2. He likes it a lot. It too at times has trouble cycling the cheap 2 3/4" loads. He doesn't clean it that often though. It is a great gun and i think they improved on it for the SX3

If you want a good cheap gun under $400, Tri Star has a semi auto with 3 chokes that Ducks Unlimited is endorsing for 2008. It has the duck emblem on the side. Looks sharp, you can see it on their website. If you want the best, get benelli, but it'll cost you.

i would highly recommend thebretta xtrema2, i have the superblack eagle, and the 11-87, have hadthe 1100 as well.
the beretta xtrema will out shoot all of them, i have personaly put all of them through the test, from the dove feilds, to neck deep in a duck hole, to deer hunting with buck shot.  the xtrema to me shoot better and will shoot any shell just as fast as u can pull the trigger, the others will hang up with junk shells.....
