No matter what you do to your clutch it all comes down to your thumb. With my red and 29.5s the only time I smoked a belt was while I was trying to back out of some pretty deep PB mud. Completely my fault.

i must have bad luck with belts or I just don't know how to be easy on the throttle.  I break a belt every 5 or 6 rides, no joke.  I have only smoked a belt only once, but all the other 8 times, the belt just breaks.  It really pisses me off a lot, but then I just try and relax and remember how much I love the power.

Only OEM.  I tried running the belt on the tight side and on the loose side.  Some motor builders suggest running the belt on the loose side.   They have told me that the red spring coil binds and with the rebuilt motor turning so hard that it may be causing the belt to break.  Their logic is that something is gotta give if the motor is trying to pull the belt down into the primary and the secondary is not allowing the belt to do that because the red secondary spring is coil binding.

And Big B, Im not trying to hijack your thread bro...just saw a post about belts and hoped that we could all share some information to help all of us.

The red isn't big enough to bind IMO. Try dropping down to a lime green and see if that doesn't help? I would NOT suggest running on the loose side as that allows more of a chance to slip. Keep it in the 22-23mm deflection. Your case kinda has me confused......unless you stay WOT all the time?

camobrute, that is fine bud. thats what threads are for.

and to the wise elbow with the funny graphic with the cat, search function only brought up threads about the red secondary working with 29.5's, nothing about the relationship between clutch kits and blowing belts....
