Get a test light and find the wire coming out of your ignition wires that is Hot when your lightes are on or when your key is on either way does not matter.
I have mine hooked up so the lights come on with the key just like my gauge lights do..

I would wire it to the hot wire going to the head light switch. That way if something should short out, then its only the headlights you loose if the gauge shorts out.  If you do it to the ignition then we risk shorting that out and not being able to start the bike. anyways, I dont think you have a 4wheeler anymore. The last time I checked its sitting in MY garage. And since possession is 9/10's law, that makes it mine...LOL

i dont want the light on all the time though, and didnt want to splice into the headlight wires,
I really wish there was a terminal that was easy to tap into instead
i might just add a switch, i hate tapping into the factory harnesses, I hated cutting off the factory plug for the triple flow fan

The only thing about wiring into your headlights is when it is in the dim position, one wire is hot and when in the bright, the other is hot so just keep that in mind.   I have both of mine wired to to a keyed wire that is only hot when the key is on.  I have a JT temp  gauge on the 660 and an Autometer Cobalt full sweep on the 700.

I wired mine into the key switch...had it for 6 months, not a problem yet. The gauge kit should come with all the wires you were askin about, to complete the install...

put it behind the shifter...that would be a CLEAN install...I'm just scared to cut my plastic.  Hook the light to the key/ignition switch like stated above and the red backlight will come on when you turn the key And nothin when the keys off

I hope i can help for as many times as youve helped me in the past.I wired mine to the headlight low beam wires.I did it this way because i didnt want the light in the guage on all the time.I remember a long time ago when i wired a tach up in my truck that i wired the light for the tach up just to an igniton hot wire. The bulb for the tach blew within a few months since it was on all the time.I didnt want this to happen to the guage for my quad.the light for the guage is only on when the low beams are on but heck thats what i use most of the time anyway.Check my video on the ceramic exhast. It has video of the guage in it.If you need any more specifics about this guage just let me know and i can run out and look to see how i did it in the past since its been a few years since i put it in.

By the way,i have an extra one of those radiator hose adapters for this guage laying on my work table.I never used mine since i have the Highlifter radiator with the adpater already in it for the guage.Cant remember if it comes with the guage or not.

Im thinking of fabbing a bracket to the loop on the rear of the front rack so it is directly above the pod and in between the belt snorkles
and im cutting in a 700 storage box there, just gotta find the hole saw to fit it

and thanks bcom, it still comes with it but i have a triple flow as well
ill shoot you a message when im actually starting the install for wire color and such, that sounds like what i want to do
