I was wondering if anyone knows the steps to change the belts on the outlander.  I have seen it done once but really dont remember exactly how it was done. Also do u know what size bolt is used to pull off the transmission pully.

thanks stephen

Remove the CVT cover and on the secondary pully you will see 3 holes. One of those holes is threaded. You will either need to get the BRP tool to spead the sheaves or get a 8 X 1.25 mm bolt at least 5 inches long. Thead that bolt in the threaded hole on the secondary pully and that will spread the sheaves to allow you to remove the belt. The bolt can be difficult to find, I couldn't find one at Lowe's or Home Depot and my dealer ended up giving me an extra BRP tool they had. Most guys I have talked to got their bolt from either Home Depot or Fastenal. Be careful putting the cover back on, make sure you don't overtighten the bolts putting it back together. The fasteners in the rear CVT cover are brass and are very easily stripped.

That is exactly how to do it, let me edit one thing.  The bolt is a 8x1.25x70mm, roughly 3 inches long.  Lowes or home depot should have it.  Be sure it has threads all the way to the bolt head.  When you put it back together use a lil silicone.
