i need help 07 650H1 26" mudlites, slide mod, hmf exhaust, jetted(135 & 45), amr racing coil, k&n, epi clutch kit, daynatek cdi. did all this because it was SLOW and had no power in mud. top speed is 50 mph, barely pulls the wheels up. my nephew has the same machine and he smokes me in a race. if i can't get this right i'm selling.

I would say start with your jetting and making sure its correct. only a couple cats i know of that run that small of a main jet.   i have a 148dj, needle on the 3rd knotch and a 42 pilot.

so what is all yours set at..??  do you have a snorkel as well..??  2" ?

live in minnesota, the jet kit is what came with my hmf muffler. that was there recommendation, it came with a 140 & 145 tried the 145 but it seemed sluggish slow to hit. i don't know anything about needle with knotches, the factory pilot was a 40 , main 132

Was just wondering, from what i can tell the 08s are faster then the older 650s.. why i dont know i ride with Sodbuster and he has a stronger running 06 with all the same mods as mine and he will even tell you mine is on a different power level and i cant figure out what the difference is. I have heard this from others as well

It would be good if anyone else with a 08 650 vs a older one would pipe in and see if they have a similar story.

as of right now this is just my guess (that somthing is different with the 08s vs the older ones) i wish we could narrow done a good reason for this.

My 08 with a 10" lift could walk off from an 07 with a 2" lift. both running 29.5"s. Only difference was I had 4.0's and He had 3.6's.

Each bike seems to be different.  I have an 06' that runs liks a scalded ape.  I have not raced them but I believe it would give either of my 08's a run, and the 06' is stock except for 08" laws and snorkels.

well just think of how slow this was before the mods. and i'm still not as fast as stock. i'm lost the only thing i know of is to take it to a clutching specialist. if that don't work it's gone. my 400i is more fun to ride on trail and mud

What about the CDI, have you tried reinstalling the stock one and see if that makes a difference????  Have you checked the carb vent line, wifes got a little sluggish and found that it had gotten plugged with mud..  Could the automatic choke be stuck??

You have a problem some where. My buddies 07 H1 has 29.5 laws a 146 main jet (no kit), 2" snorkels, and an HMF and will wheelie with the push of the throttle. (no clutch work and stock gears)

Check the plug and see what it looks like,  this will tell you if you are running lean or rich....  There is a very good write up on jetting in the sticky at the top of the forum...

I was having the same trouble earlier today. When i got my 650 i noticed it had the secondary mod already done but the belt was very loose. So i replaced the belt and it still slipped and was loose, after I took the secondary off and notice the spring was in the #4 and letter C. It was supposed to be in A, so instead of making the spring tighter they (whoever had it before me) actually loosened it. Now it takes off like a rocket

i just looked up the elevations for Mn and i think the stock pilot would be fine .need more info are their any other mods like snorkels, high flow air filter etc. if not keep the same main jet you put in, put your stock pilot jet mixture should be close in stock setting. thats where i would start. running that 45 pilot it should be running rich.

what is your top speed after changing that , someone else told me it sounds like the clutch is not engaging right with such a low top speed

thats why it does not take a big main jet then, the snorkel would change that. i would say go back to the stock pilot and then see how it runs, if there to rich it makes the motor lazy to rev up..

when i had the hmf on my 08 it wasn't jetted correctly at all but it was close enough were it would run just crappy like and i still smoked my friends 07 model.I think that you need to check your clutching setup and your belt,if the jet was bad enough to make you that slow you would know that it was jetting especially with the hmf because it would make horrible pops and would shoot flames out when you let off the gas after full throttle runs.i think its gunna be a simple problem that a good mechanic should have no proplem solving if he had your bike to look at.

yeah but i mean loud popping and flames sometimes,if it is popping alot and making big backfires then your jetting is off.if its just minimal popping and not to much backfiring at all then you should be good.when my jetting was off there was a terrible dead spot in the motor and when i hammered on it,it would fall on its face for a couple seconds and be dead to the world then blast off like i had NOS and keep pulling

if it pops like a glass pack on a truck that is normal becuase of the open free flowing muffler but if its back fireing and popinf very loud with fire then that is not good and is to lean.
