First off when i opened up the carb it had a 150 main jet in it, the needle was on its 5th spor down. mean rich on the needle, and the pilot was a 42.5 the screw was out 1.5 turns. the machine was lean on idle and rich every place else. so far i have played with my jetting for the main and came to putting in a DJ140 main jet, witch is a 130 main jet for mikuni, I'll post a cross over list later on the main jets. as for the needle dropped it to the third clip with a shim under the clip witch put is at 3.5 down. no for the pilot i went to a #45. now the plug after a couple fo spins up and down the trail around my house. has a nice light brown to almost carmel color. witch is not to lean. I also took the stock snorkle. pulled it off the air box trimmed out the opening for the air box. then i drill two one inch holes from the under side of the airbox lid into the snorkle. so now there is three inlets off the intake snorkle. into the air box. i then sealed the snorkle to the top of the air box with silcon. so less of a chance for water getting in.
I'm still fine tuning the carb to get it very spot on. so this post is just my update on my work for making the hawkeye a better machine for owners. the dyno jet kit is worth the money, but i didnt need it as i have boxes of dyno main jets. the only thing i didnt use is the dyno jet needle. witch I'm going to try soon to see if that makes an more improvements. so far the I will say rejetting the carb is a number 1 thing that has to be done.

also I tuned with a K&N filter with outerwears, also everytime i made an adjustment i went for a test ride with a new spark plug installed so in order to get a good reading. to all hawkeye owners Dyno jet has a fix. but going a couple steps deeper into the carb will improve it much better. polaris started out with a good cv flat slide carb, just never took the time to set it up right from day one. the fix from polaris is to drill 10 1/2 inch holes into the air box and use rubber plugs to adjust for more aor less air. thats not a fix to me thats an easy way out. the main and needle are to rich, and the pilot was to lean. at 3.5 turns out on the pilot screw is alot. so i went up one size and my pilot is turned out 2.5 turns. and now it runs and pures like it should have from new but never did.
