have a 96 needs new piston and rings any one use the big bore kits is it worth it if so which kit is the best thanks

i did one for my buddy and we used a 450 cylinder and head along with a cam and high compression piston. he bought the head and cylinder on ebay and dropped them off at the machine shop. save yourself a lot of money and increase your displacment too. he turns 27 9.5 front and 27 12 rear outlaws.

You can see in my sig that I got the BBK on my 450. It does add power, but, if you sink it, its makes it a lot more susceptible to 'egging' the jug than before. A thinner wall, more heat... I think I would have been better off with just jetting the carb right, a good exhaust, and a cam. Mine got sunk about 8 times before the BBK was put in, and several times afterwards. Seems like it held up better before.

thanks for the replies which kit is better also the standard size piston is 86mm whats the biggest size i can with out the bbk???

We have one we have sold for years. It is our J&E dome top 475 CC kit. The piston size is 93.479mm.
The kit has everything you need, the high compression piston, rings, wrist pin, circlips, head/base gaskets and sleeve. It sells for $302.50. We also have the 20 over 90.5mm & 40 over 91.1mm high compression pistons available.

Dan isn't the .20 an .40 overbore for a foreman 450? Awhile back there was acouple guys with foreman 400's that kept having problems witht he 475 kit. They then used a 450 cylinder and had no more problems. I don't know what the deal was with this nor if there was a problem with this.

thats a good point i want the easiest way to do this the last one i done i went w 87mm piston but i dont know much about the big bore kits i dont do anything thats going to cause future damage i want go bigger in size but what size actually thanks for the help (its a 96 "400")

to do that, you'd need a 450 sleeve, a 450 cylinder (or machine yours, just like a BBK, a 450 piston, and a 450 gasket set. That'd get you a 433cc engine with stock compression.
