I don't think you could lose by choosing either one. I have Executioners and have had no problems at all..love em. Friends have 589's and they do very well also..both tires wear great. I have had mine over two years and they still look new..good luck on your decision. Also, you might consider the Zillas by Maxxis.

I prefer Executioners.  Not a big difference between them, but I do like them better.  There was another tread comparing these two about a week ago, try going back a few pages or searching, a lot of info was posted there.

I have had 2 sets of 589's and I loved them both. They are some great tires and they do wear like steel!! I started out with the 26's but they weren't enuff. Then went to 28's(really 27.5) and they were great also. Climbed , mudded, pulled great!! I just wanted more. I havent had much experience with the Exc's but I know the 589's are a little lighter.

kenda executioners: stay on top more than 589's but not as much as others, both wear like steal, ride is a bit rought under 7-10 mph deppending on the bike set up, one of the heaviest out there, cost is not too bad.

589's: dig to the bottom and bite, wear like steal, ride is also rought but not quite as bad as the exec., heavy but lighter than exec.,  cost is kindda high, imo

both are great "MUD" tires, and both do great everywere else, but if you are not a mud ridder there are better choices than these two. this is my findings and experince with both tires, hope this helps.

kenda's dig more than 589's do.

both of these are all terrain tires, not mud tires.

myself, if i get new tires for my other bikes i will get 27x10 executioners all around on all except the 300, it will get vampire EDL's but that will be quite awhile... and i KNOW that the kendas i have on it now will last that long untill the BBK comes.

they are not all terrain tires, they are mud tires. and i have owned both and in my oppinion the 589's don't compare to the exec. or mudbugs for that matter. but the FACT is the 589's dig to the bottom of a mud hole more so than the exec., alouth they also dig alot when ompared to mudbugs or even laws. and you can't compare the price of 25's at $270 to 27's oldtrx. popo, yes 400$ is a lot to pay for a set of 26'' 589's.

just because they are not in that extreme mud tire/bogger tires does not mean they are an all terrain. that would be the big hornes, teracross, even the dirt deviles and such. but calling the 589's and the exec. all terrain, think about it, before outlaws, back, and even vamps (witch is probaly before you) 589's and superswamper's were the ones to have.

i understand you have been riding longer than me but that means nothing for tire development.i cant tell you when they were brought into production and sure the original tsls  and 589's were the thing to have, but they cant be called a "mud" tire hang with an outlaw by todays standards, while still being made to do well in mud, they are made for lasting long on hardpack, ride, trail manners, and light weight. what does that sound like to you?

and dirt devils arent an all terrain if executioners and 589's arent, if so please explain your thoughts

diry devils lugs are very close together witch makes for a tire that does not self clean well, by the way have you looked at there web site. they are listed as all terrain tires. just because 589's and exec. wear good and are not the hands down best doesen't mean they are not mud tires. and the outlaw is not the standard for mud tires, bad **** yes but ther suck on hard pack and wear down fast on hard pack.

so in short if you think 589's, exec., mudbugs/gators are not mud tires cause they don't do as well as outlaws, backs, etc. you well lets say you don't know as much as you think.

I'd definitley consider them to be a mud tire. No true all-terrain rides rough at any speed. No, they're not a hard-core mud-only tire, but direction tread design with deep lugs, almost a tractor tread profile - a mud tire indeed.
