i know this sounds dumb but i got everything off for snorkeling it but the shifter side i cant get the black knob on the shifter off do you just twist it off or do u have to loosen the nut on the bottom of it

Yes loosen the nut on the bottom.

ok no you dont loosen the nut on the bottom you just twist hard and the bolt loosens itself there was no way twisting the bolt was gonna work but my hands did lol thanks james chapman

when you go to put it back on the nut on the bottom will have to be loosened then ran back up after you get the shifter pointed in the right direction,  the nut is used to lock it in the correct place, next time loosen the nut first lol.

Ive never messed with the nut...Just turned the shift knob and it always went back on the right way

nah..I've taken the plastics off many times and never had any bent shifter rods

either way thats what the nut is for, take a 12 mm and loosen it next time and see how much easier it is,   its just a backup lock nut lol,  i just got a budd down here that bent his so bad its leaning to the right, its funny
