They are both very good belt systems but I give the advantage to the cat. The grizz belt system uses greased rollers while the cat system uses dry rollers. This means if you get watter in a grizz belt case you have to take it apart and regrease the rollers. You dont have to do this with the cat because the roller dont use grease. The belt system is also tunable on the cat in stock form. The grizzley isnt tunable without buying a clutch kit.

I do think the clutching on the 650/700H1s are more agressive then the Grizz 700s as well in stock forum, not to say the Grizz's belt system is lacking in anyway really.

I raced a Grizz 700 and he had 27 589s and i had my stock tires on, i beat him by 4 quad lenghts easy, i then got a deal on some 26"589s i blew them up to 27"s and went back and raced him again and with equal size tires he then beat me by 2 quad lenghts. so they do run good no doubt would like to see a 700H1 up agaisnt one as i think it would out run it.

If i bought a different brand of quad it would be the Grizz 700 i think. they are alot lighter then the cats are and skinny as well if you go ride both i think you will know which one you want. the weight does not bother me any but the fact they are so narrow is one thing i did not like but SRA wheels would fix that for sure..
they cats are just so easy to snorkel and to change things on, really like the way they look and how high they set and the low gearing they come with.

Almost 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other.  I think the KQ guys have more ratio out there to grab by installing some shims in the primary.  There's not much to gain on the Grizz by doing that, but there is a little.  The ACs seem to be clutched more aggressive than the Grizz right off the bat.  The greased rollers in the Grizz give it a smoother shift out and longer belt life (dissipates heat better).  But it does pose a problem if you swamp it although both types need a cleanout after such.  I doubt you could quantitatively put a # on the increased belt life I mentioned.  The Grizz shares the same tranny as all the rest of Yamaha's utility lineup so you can buy a set of weights for around $30 for clutching options.

I think that they are both great bikes the grizz is just more modern with the efi. but the arctic cats are so freakin cheap i am thinkin about buying a used 650 to have for a second bike. but with that said they dont seem to hold their resale if you plan on buying a new bike. either way you cant go wrong both are good bikes, dont know much about the kingquad except they will outrun a stock 700 on flat ground but the grizz will smoke going up a hill dont know why that is probly something to do with clutching.

just the belt drives themselves? pretty much a wash between the cat, king quad, and grizzlys.

considering the whole drivetrain? cat by a mile... the much lower gearing that the cat has takes a lot of stress off of the belt. from the experience of many: it's dang near impossible to slip a dry belt in a cat... it'll rip transmission parts out before that belt slips.

Grizzly 660/700
Primary (V-belt):  2.380 - 0.700
Secondary reduction: 2.603 (41/21 x 24/18)
Final Drive: 3.67 (33/9)

Range Reductions (Overall)
High:  1.16   (26.349 - 7.750)
Low:   1.938  (44.021 - 12.947)
Rev:   2.000  (45.429 - 13.362)

cat's belt has a lot more leverage on the rest of the drivetrain, which is what you want for the most part. the taller the gearing after the belt, the harder the belt has to work to keep grip.

i think allmost all the Arctic cats have EFI now  glad i like what i got so i dont have to have it, i like as less computor and electronics as i can get away with.
cost me $50 for a Dyno jet kit to tune my quad after the pipe and snorkel and its easy to do. for me there is no reason to have EFI at all.
if i could get the parts cheap i would make my 4wd like the old ones with a push pull rod as well, and allthough the speedo looks cool a cable ran one would last much longer when in water all the time.
