A body lift is only going to lift the body. The bumper is on the frame. You're more than likely going to have to get that bumper custom mounted to move it up when you do the body lift.

body lifts do not look good on a Chevy.  I know you say you want one, but take a look at the T-bar index keys.  they are also a cheap lift mod and will look 10 times better.  If you still want one, check performance accessories.

Performance Accessories makes a great kit.  I have put one on a 01 and 04 1500 chevy.  Bumper relocaters and everythng else included in the kit, except gap guards.  I never wanted them anyway.  Not a fast job, be prepared to dedicate 4-5 hours at least to it.

Performance Accessories is the best body lift available and their kits come with bumper brackets. Messing with the torsion bars on that style Chevy will eat CV axles left and right! I wouldn't do that unless your torsion bars are worn and sagging or you have a massive bumper and its sagging from that. Those keys also create a massive amount of bump steer because it screws up the steering angles as well, it will cause the already prone to failure Idler Arm to wear even faster. I would cut the fenders up long before doing the keys.

thats only the effects if you crank them a good bit.

I did mine just a little, about 1" and its been fine.

The keys do the exact same thing as cranking them up a lot. Cranking them up a little, like to level the truck out, is ok but trying to get 2in or more of lift out of the torsion bars is too much. I've got a Dakota thats on 35s now and I've got a 3in lift on it and the torsion bars cranked about 1 1/2 in over the lift, the only reason I went that far is the cv axle angle was still good enough to go a little more then I originally planned. Not trying to be a basher here but those Chevys did not have a very strong front axle setup, either the diff or the cv axles. If it were me the torsion bar keys would be a last resort to get the truck leveled, not a means of squeezing more lift out of it.

Like a majority of the people said on here. 3" Performance Accessories Body Lift with Gap Guards. Usually run around $300-$400. I run a 3" BL before cranking torsion bars just because the all the extra wear and tear it puts on the front end suspension parts. If you do find yourself breaking a lot of front axles there is a guy over on Full Size Chevy selling an adaptor for 1500s so you can run a heavier duty cv axle. If I remember right it allows you to run a 2500-3500 cv axle in your 1500. Might be a good mod if you do plan on cranking up your torsion bars a good bit to fit tires.

Had the same setup on the 04.  6" fabtec and 3" PA body.  Had 16x10s with 38x14.50 Nittos and they scrubbed pretty good but only at full turn when hitting a bump to cause downword motion.  Had the torsion bar keys too, cranked them all the way up and ran out of shock so turned them back down just enough to keep the ride smoothe.  Had 3" ad a leaf in the back but removed the factory block so added about 1.5" to the back and had to fab shock mounts to make them reach(bring them up on the axle about 3" or so).  Had a big bumper too, but after all that the truck was level.  You just have to do trial and error sometimes.  Replaced one set of idler and pit joints in 50000 miles(from new to 50000, truck had lift installed at 1500 miles)...ate up some mud grapplers though!!!  all that extra lift puts the front end angle off...like you see on alot of lifted atv's

Here is a pic...not for sale.  Left me long before gas hit $4

I can definitely attest to this!!! Before I had my lift on one of my Chevys I cranked the torsion bars and it would literally pop a wheelie when I hit a bump!!  Tore up my front end including cv's, ball joints, and tie rods.

Yeh, I wasn't their last weekend but I go often. I'm normal in a black yota on 35s. Have you seen that old red K5 blazer rape the bog?
