The search is your friend but it depends on where you ride. If you ride in hot, humid places then the k&n is perfect for you. Since hot air isnt as dense as cold air it will take more air to keep your motor running smooth. If you ride in cold or dusty places the get a Twin air. The k&n does let dust through it but it also lets much more air through.

Not this old argument again.
A K&N with a pre-filter is the best way to go.
With that combo you will have no dust problems at all.

Twinair...... It's  like $20  and protects better than a $70 K&N.... no argument.... just facts.

I use a K&N with the outerwear on it and have no complaints. I would've went with the twin air but the places I ride are usually very dusty if it hasn't rained and I figured the twin air would cost me more in maintenance by having to clean it every other ride. I've cleaned my K&N one time in almost 500 miles and it didn't need it then. The outerwear will also help protect against water somewhat if you don't have snorks. When I flipped mikne in the creek awhile back I had water all in my airbox but when I took off the air filter it was dry as a bone.

Yeah and it still  looked like new when I did it. I could've probably jusr sprayed some oil on it but I cleaned it anyways.

I have cleaned the outerwear more than that but that's all it's ever needed.

Like I stated above same old argument. Bla bla bla.
K&N with outerware Prefilter Except no substitution.
Its just the true fact SSTOGI. learn to except it.

who cares that much..... I wouldnt drop $70 on one anyway, even if it WAS a little better than the twin air...

sheesh..

Besides... there's no dust to clog a filter if your riding in the snow... so... yeah.. there's that argument out the window.

I'm not saying either one is better than the other. From the looks of it though it looks like with the Twin Air you'd spend more money on oil to redo it after every ride than you'd spend on the K&N in the long run.

We're  starting to look like the honda forum over here.....LOL

It wouldn't matter if I had a K&N or the stock one .... I would still spend the same amount of time and money doing the matainence. I'm  obsesive compulsive when it comes to those things. Ain't never seen a bike break down from the filter being too clean.

Any way..... Sorry BRUTE750II , Didn't mean to clutter up your thread.

I've got the K&N also! I think it's about as good as you can get as long as you put the outerwear on it. I've got almost 700 miles on mine and still  haven't cleaned it. I've reoiled it a time or 2 and cleaned the prefilter but that's it. A twin-air wouldn't hold up to the conditions I ride in without me having to clean it every ride.
