first off what is this plug for under the pod and why the 9volt battery connector? i use the positive side of the plug to power the amps remote wires but that's it.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c380/sixohh/Photo_07.jpg

also the tail lights stay on no matter what when the ignition is on. i dont need themn on when day riding. i was thinking either finding a single filament bulb to replace the dual filament so only the actual brake lights would work or finding the power wire for the dim tail lights and putting a switch inline.  any thoughts?

last one. the bike did not come with a reverse light switch or bulbs in the lights themselves. but all the wiring is there. after installing bulbs, the rev lights do not come on in reverse or anything. what wire or relay do i need to tag onto to activate this circut?  thanks guys just new to popo;s LOL
....  here's a pic http://s31.photobucket.com/albums/c380/sixohh/?action=view&current=brock1.jpg

cool, easy questions make me look like I know what I'm talking about.

The 9V plug is for running diagnostics.  I wouldn't tie into it for anything, actually.  If you need to tie into a hot wire with the ignition, tie into the cig-lighter wire, or another orange wire with a white stripe in the pod.

The three pronged plug you found is for the reverse light switch.  You need to get a switch from a dealer, or get an otto switch from quadovator.  This will control the backup lights.  They are not meant to coem on when in reverse.

The tail lights are supposed to be on whenever the ignition is on, it's a safety feature.

going back to the backup lights, or work lights, you will need to get the switch from polaris, or get one from quadovator.  If you look at the back of the pod you will find little knockouts.  Take a dremel or razor blade and cut one of these out.  The plug will plug right into it, and you will suddenly have work lights.

you should never use the 9volt plug.  only the dealer or someone with a computer will be able to hook into that.  To activate codes, tunr the keey on and off 3 times in under 5 seconds.

you can use any switch you want.  I recommend the otto switches (what dealer uses) because they are waterproof.  They will also plug right in, rather than having to cut wires.
But you're right, any switch will work.

The wrench on the display is telling you there is a problem with the machine and there are trouble codes stored in the computer.   If it is still under warrenty then bring it to the dealer and have them fix it.

Only time my wrench light comes on is when it time for a service interval. Anytime there is an engine problem/trouble code my check engine light comes on.

You guys are more then likely correct on this.   I don't own an efi and we don't have many efis around here as us northern rednecks like the old fashioned carbs. LOL

So the wrench is a service reminder.     Not sure how to reset it though.

To get the wrench to go away

1. Turn off and put in nuetral
2. Hold reverse overide and turn the bike on while holding it.
3. Release the reverse overide when display pops up
4. use reverse overide to toggle through to service interval screen
5. hold reverse overide button until the screen displays off (about 6-10 seconds i think) Can't find my manual right now.

Let me know if it works.

Holding the button down until "OFF" appears on the screen will turn it off for good. Meaning it will never come on again. I reset mine to 50 to remind me to do a thorough maintenance/service.

Not a bad idea.  I service mine so often that it doesn't apply for me.  I need a reminder to get a beer!!  Will it do that, lol?

It will do that, but it will make you feel like you are on rations. It will only tell you to get one every hour!

cause leaning over to the back of the bike is just killing you right? HAHA

maybe you could make a dispenser shaped like a snorkel and fill it with ice water and it can drop a beer in your lap!

actually, that's not a bad idea.  People might be asking what the 5th snork is for though...
