I see all these youtube videos where people swamp them like nothing and don't care, don't you have to take the whole bike apart and drain the water out of it?

In case I ever swamp my brute what steps do I take when on the trail in detail?

If you swamp your box, drain your airbox and clean the filter pull the plugs out "both of them" and fire the bike over until all the water is off the top of the piston, prolly drain your carbs. Then drain your oil and change your filter then fire it up for a few seconds and see if your oil is milky if so change the oil and filter again until its not milky anymore

Shut it off, don't re-start it AT ALL!  Get pulled out, and pull the spark plugs.  Turn it over with the spark plugs out and let the water come out of the compression chamber.  If you try to start it with water in it, it'll bend your piston rods.  Fluids need to be changed - the air filter dried / cleaned, airbox cleaned, possibly the carb cleaned / drained.  The oil needs to be changed until there is no more water in it (milky oil).  I think that's about it.  My roomate was screwing around on the edge of our pond last week and swamped his Kodiak ;)  I was just telling him he's gotta snorkel it to LOL.

on the trail? drain the air box and see how much water comes out.  lots..maybe consider getting towed. just a little too much: remove spark plug and turn it over. first tip bike on end to drain the muffler. few drops: tip and drain muffler and fire it up.  dont worry about youtube.  most likely they can take care of themselves.

After swamp a brute..........sell it. LOL The vtwins do not like water! The hondas are almost fish and the brutes would be like a cat, they hate water! LOL Never attempt anything on the trail. Go straight to the house or where ever and do all the above mentioned. You have to pull the side plastic to even get to the rear cylinder. Thats not something I want to be doing out on the trail. DOnt attempt to start it until everything is good and clean. And like GWC said go ahead and make an appointment with flynt.

Pulling the plugs cannot be stressed enough. Once it stalls, do not try to start.I had to rebuild my 700 due to just that. No rod damage but bent valves.

My bike loves the water, heck I think it runs on it! I have stalled underwater many times and it just starts right up. I do have the valves adjusted pretty much after every 5 rides. Maybe mine just dies on the right stroke?

I have an 07 Brute, it has been swamped by my step son three times now. Each time we bring it home and change drain or flush everything. It still runs good. It has been clear deep water each time. No mud or sand involved.

Most of the people you see on youtube have there bikes set-up to run deep water(snorkels, everything siliconed up, di-electric greased every elec. connector, re-routed vent lines, etc.)
