Is John doing anything for the Can-Am clutches?

The goal is to see about 4-5 more mph in lowrange if not more, while also gaining snap off the line. This will be for a mudracing application....

Last time I talked to john he said he had done 1,and it would just eat the belt up.

The helix mod will increase snap off the line. Probably won't increase the top speed in low range though, unless you are bogging the engine down in deep mud, if that's the case, then a helix mod will help the top speed in low, when mudding.

does the stock primary have room for longer weights?

Yes, I made some for my rene when I ran the stock clutch. It seems some bikes clutches will push the belt to the top, and some won't. My turbo bike didn't when it was stock, and my boys bike always has pushed it all the way up. Don't know what the difference is, just know it's like that.
