i had already purchased a TigerTail earlier this year. everytime i go ridin it seems like i use it......don't know how i got along without it. for those of you who haven't already purchased one, i was on their site today to buy a cover and noticed that they are having a summer special - look in the upper right side of the screen

meatman,

god bless america....and her flag! i bought mine a few months ago and paid full retail ~200 bucks and i don't regret it a bit. once you have one, you will use your winch a lot less....yet sometimes with the tigertail. i used to use my winch for most everything, now i only use it when i'm really stuck bad. this thing makes pulling people out a breeze and your always get the opportunity first to pull out the other guy....and then all the bragging rights too. the video on the site captures the use of the system, but you won't get the spirit of it until you see it in use. of the people that i ran across at different ridin areas, everyone has said the same thing....they love their tail! i only wish it had a flag pattern.

it looks like a pretty neat system but i think for the price i will just stick with my $5 harbor freight tow straps which work just as good just take a little more time to get out and put away

i don't mind the system for towing, but would rather use my 20,000 pound master-pull rope when really need to pull stuff as it stretches for snatching power that is safer to use, i'd break that 8000 pound rope with some of the stuff we clear after the winter

i just powerwash mine after she gets covered in muck.....looks nearly new everytime.

i used to use a highly elastic rope like the master-pull rope....only problem is that with all the energy stored in the rope when you "get a run" at pulling whatever it is out (plus at full extension and it can make the ATV uncontrollable). i had a friend that got hurt pretty badly when he was using his - with those really stretchy ropes any dirt/debris that gets in it acts like little razor blades. so everytime you have a lot of stretch, you guessed it.....more and more fibers are cut. granted it will take multiple uses - so i would plan on frequent replacements. with a rope that has less stretch you have less thread to thread scrubbing. just my two cents

i got tired of using the $5 chinese junk......the ends come loose or the straps fray quickly if you use them much.

I like the idea, but for the money I will stick wit my straps and winch. Just don't think it's worth the $160 for a retractable rope.

I will agree with everyone, it does seem pricey, pluse buying a mount for the TigerTail to mount n your bike. I think I will continue to use my 2" tow strap for now.

i bought both of my cheap straps at harbor freight too....maybe it was just a bad batch. either way, i was torqued when they both failed within a few rides of using them.

i was skeptical about the cost as well initially. but it looks like some of us also have purchased the synthetic rope for our winches. i paid nearly $70 with shipping for the amsteel blue winch line....and that is just a bunch of synthetic fibers weaved together with a rope thimble! if you think about it, the tigertail has to be able to handle the same and in some cases larger loads from impact than a winch. like somebody already said, all you have to do is add the $100 electric motor and planetary gear box and you have a high end winch. heck, if warn sold one of these....it would probably be $400 just like the snow plow power pivot. if you see a tigertail on the back of a quad....go ask the owner what he thinks and take a look for yourself......they are nothing short of impressive. don't take it from me......i was happy to read mudders product review on it which confirmed the performance. atleast i didn't feel like i bought a chinese winch that didn't make it a year.

Mudbud you aren't one of the developers of the tiger tail are you? Sure seems like your doing a lot of promoting for them.

I''ll say it is impresive but since I get all my 2 inch wide 10 foot long and 4 inch wide 20 foot long straps for free I can keep the $160 and use my straps and winch. I get my straps (crane slings) free because we have to throw them away at work if there is a little fray in it or heck even if the manufacturers tag is ripped off we throw them out (osha laws).

I'm thinkin so, take a look at some of his other posts, he works the product name in like a Nascar driver

It does look cool though, I might give it a try... MudBud.. if you do have some ties to the company recommend or make a different color body, I don't want some bright blaze orange mass hanging off the back, how about atleast a black one.. I know you have covers you can get but I'd be a little worried about them getting ripped off on the trail.

Elkbow - I dunno about you but sometimes I get more fun outta doing stuff like that with my wheeler than I do riding the trails or muddin. A few months ago we were clearing downed trees and I had a blast doing it.

hey....thanks for the compliment. i only wish i was a developer or a nascar driver. actually, i bought one (i'll try not to work the name) and was consistently getting flack. then, once the guys that were giving me flack saw it workwhen i pulled them or others out.....they didn't say much other than confirming what i had been telling them all along. so, i probably got a bit agitated and then saw it on the forum and carried the emotion along. sorry dudes.....just tired of catching crud over it. it has been one of the more exciting things i've added to my ATV other than a plow. i was sold when i saw one of the designers openly field questions on another forum. i thought it would be nice if other companies developers would do the same. i'll shut up on this one.

anybody got a recommendation on other cool products for atvs? something else that will get me charged up?
