The smoke switch basically fools the ECM into thinking the truck is under full boost. All you do is tap one wire into the Vref going to the map sensor (5 volt reference sent to the map sensor) , run that to one side of a switch, run a nother with from the other side of the switch to the Signal wire from the map sensor (Wire the ECM monitors MAP voltage or "boost pressure"). When the switch is activated the ECM see's the engine is at full boost, then fuels harder and viola, theres your smoke. From what I have seen, on a stock truck it didn't make much of a difference at all but a truck with a programmer or box on it will throw out some extra smoke.
