I have a 1999 Suzuki Quadrunner LT-250FX 4x4.  Not really big but I have fun with it.  However, I need some more ground clearance and I have not found a lift kit for it.  It still has the original tires on it and I thought about going with some bigger tires.  The front tires are 22x8-10 and the rear tires are 25x12-10.  I can pull these tires without any problems but I want to go bigger.  My questions are:  What is the largest tire size I can use without a lift?  Do I have to keep the same ratio as the 22(f) and 25(r) or can I get them closer in size?

I would say you could go 26's rear, 25's front but you may need spacers for the front, it all depends on what kind of tire your looking for. What types of riding do you do? I know you could do 26",wide vamps out back and skinnies in the front, because the fronts will measure short.

We ride in all types of terrain, mud, water, lots of rocks, hard pack clay, etc.  What concerns me the most is the tire size ratio.  I know that with my 4x4 truck, I have to run the same size tire all the way around or (expensive) things break.  I did not know if that was true with the 4x4 ATV or not as most of the 4x4 ATVs that I am around all run the same size tire.  I'm the odd man out and no one seems to know the answer.  Even the tech at the local Suzuki shop where my ATV was originally purchased admitted that he had no idea.

I've seen alot of folks with the 300 4trax run the same size on both front & back. They came stock with a 1" size difference(23"x8"x11" front & 24"x9"x11" rear). I've only seen 1 other guy(maybe a couple) thinking like me on this matter, stay the same difference(24" front & 27" rear) IMO! They're geared to run like this, so run it like this!  Hope this helps, maybe?? Later       Brandon
