Rode my buddies dirtbike 250F Yamaha. How would it compare in speed and power to say a yfz 450 or a 450r?

Whats a good quick, good trail handeling bike?

Get ready for a bunch of opinions. Everybody will have a different answer for which one you should get.

The power will be around the same. All the 450's will keep up with or outrun a 250cc fourstroke dirtbike. The suspension will be way better on the bike though. If you want a bike mainly for trails stay away from the wider ones. Other than that just pick your favorite color, because there isnt much difference.

Me, I love 4wheelers. I like riding the 450's and what not. But I love dirt bikes to. I wish I still ahd a my old 400ex, but if I had that I would wish I had a dirt bike. Ive got a 125 2stroke which is comparable to a 250 four stroke. I raced my friends yfz450 before (has a pipe and rev box) and got beat by him  by a little. the 250f is alittle faster the the 125 so I think it is very close to the 450's. I would get the 250f though. Thats my favorite kinda bike, wish I had one.

P.S. a 250 2stroke makes an a$$ out of the yfz450!!!

Oh man, I feel stupid. I thought you meant you rode a dirtbike and now you want an atv. lol

Just check the reviews on http://www.motocross.transworld.net/ they seem to be pretty unbiased.

You confused me for a sec too lol. If I was going to get another sport to ride on trails it would be either a 450 or a 700, but it would HAVE to have reverse. That is the one and only thing that is a must for me on a trail atv, cause no matter how carefull you are you will always find a spot or two that you have to back up. You never appreciate how cool reverse is untill you have to get off the bike and either pick up the back end and pull it around or push the bike backwards to be able to turn etc etc etc..... If you are only riding trails the Honda 700XX is a very powerfull and good riding sport thanks too its EFI and IRS, but its IRS and rather porky weight makes it not handle on par with other sports. The Raptor 700 is a better handling powerhouse that is good on trails and is also EFI. The TRX 450R is a good choice in the 450 class with great reliability and reverse. The LTR 450 is too wide and has no reverse making them less then ideal for trails. I have no seat time on any of the other 450s. Another decent choice is the KFX/LTZ/DVX 400 from Kawi/Zuki/ and Arctic Cat respectively, they are a good quad that has reverse and is decently reliable.

also depends on how much ur wanting to spend...new or used?  Raptor 660 is a good trail bike, I have a 500 Predator and its a little on the wide side-but that makes for a very stable feel...Best Trail bikes out right now would either be a Polaris Outlaw or Honda 700xx...Independent susp is a hugh plus on the trail too and lots of HP + reverse...just get out and test ride some bikes, c what u like the most...to many options not too these days

everyone here is right a great way to know is ride me for a trail bike i'd pick a good ol' 300ex lightweight, agile,a bit on the low power side, but still a blast to ride.the last 450 i rode had tons of mods, but everytime i got in a bind guess what i had to use my redneck reverse 2 feet on 2 tires thats why i like the trusty 300ex reverse is a big plus on a sportbike cause you can't always follow a lifted bike.ride hard
