My father has an 03 400 Outlander and the speedo doent work. It just sits at 0 mph and doesnt put any miles on the odometer. Im thinking it must be the sensor but they are $88 so I dont really want to buy one without knowing that is the problem. Anybody know how to diagnose this? Anybody got any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem, my bike was at the dealer for other warranty work. They said exactly what greenhead said. They cleaned the sensor. Good luck

Thanks for the input guys! Where is the speedo sensor? Is it the one on the right rear of the moter/trans? When you take it out you can see a gear that looks like it would be on the rear driveshaft? I already took that one out and cleaned it up a little bit but it didnt seem dirty at all. I might have to take it out again and make sure.

the speedo sensor is on the right side. above the rotax word lower where the flywheel is located. it reads off the flywheel as it spins.
