Anyone removed the screen below the air filter and if so is there a performance gain or loss?

Thats a backfire screen. I've seen people say it makes a difference while others say it makes no difference. So just try it and see.

When I had the 2" rubber 90 on my snorkals I was running really rich. I took that screen out and could tell a pretty big difference. That was special circumstances though.

With devildog's snork setup, removing the screen does help.. Its just way too rich with that snorkel setup.. I just finished the new route lik on n2deeps bike that ff1501 designed and haven't gotten a chance to even start it up yet since, but it will probably require jetting BUT more air equals MORE POWER

I took my screen out and jetted correctly at the same time.  More air = more power!  Just be sure you don't run lean and let it cough back out of the carbs into the airbox.  It could set your filter on fire.

i took mine out and cant say i can really tell a difference. I did it at the same time as i shimmed my needles so cant say if removing it made a difference or the combination of the two made it run a little better
