if u are getting spark and fuel, you might have the piston rings seized against the piston and itcant start cause you have no comperession.

People say pour a capful of motor oil into each carb but you can also take out the plug and put it in there then turn it over a a bit to work it in and hopefully free up the rings.

what i usually do with my 650 is pull both plugs and crank it a couple of seconds to clear out all the water thru the spark plug holes.  make sure the plugs are good and dry put them back in and give it full choke and full gas until it sounds like its trying to start.

Piston rings are siezed to the piston you're losing compression... pouring oil down the cylinder will help build compression and pulling on the pull rope while cranking it will help turn the motor over faster which will also help build compression.

Good luck.

Spark has nothing to do with compression. If you aren't getting spark it's O.K to do all the compression things the guys are mentioning as a precautionary item but the two are not linked at all. It might even just be fouled plugs but more likely you blew a fusable link or something like that.

do the carbed bikes have a rollover switch in them. change plugs and check for a blown fuse. and also check and make sure that the plug wires are snapped on good to the coils and plugs. i say its a blown fuse if your not getting spark.

Well that sucks being 15 and having to deal with this.  At least it's turning over.

Here is what you need to do...  Change the plugs.  Then go through every single connector on the bike and clean them out with some electronic sensor cleaner you can get at napa or whatever...  I've got some in a white and red can don't remember who makes it.  Try to get the sensor cleaner instead of the electric parts cleaner since it dries faster.  After using that blow them out with some keyboard cleaner spray since it's dry and easy to use.  Kinda look at them to see if they look ok and not too corroded.

Put some dielectrode grease in every cleaned connector but remember less is better than more because too much will cause them to not snap together well.  You need to do this regardless if you ride in mud and water especially after sinking it.

After doing each connector try to start it.

First though you need to pull the plugs, turn it over and see if anything blows out. Then change your plugs and try to clean the boot connector by spinning the old plug in there and moving it around because there might be some mud in there.  Then clean them out and dielectrode grease them and put the new plugs in.

If that doesn't fix the preceived spark problem then it's a fuse or some hardware that's shot.

If you really did sink it good, which I'd imagine you did you've got water and mud in your carbs and possibly tank and lines.  I'd drain every single bit of fuel out of the lines and tank and try to clean them best as possible.

Also, when you cleaned the carbs did you pull the bowls off and clean them and the jets?  It's pretty simple since it should only be water/mud in there...  Just spray carb cleaner into every port you can find and make sure there is no water in there.  Be careful not to bang around anything when it's apart.  Clean the intake ports into the engine and stuff too.  If that gets it running when it's running give some good taps to the sides of the carbs when it's going and also choke it off by hand a few times with it revved up (like put your hand over the intake so it gets no air) and try to keep it running....   That'll force it to suck junk through if there is any in there and gain some compression.

Mystery oil and a dab of motor oil isn't a bad idea but I'd personally try some Evinrude engine tuner and engine cleaner stuff.  Go by a boat shop and get the stuff, it's in a blue spray can.

It's all pretty simple really.  It just requires pulling off most of the plastics and pulling the carbs off if you're confident enough to do that...  Maybe let the dealer do that.

Also I'd rather take it to a compentent dealer than an ATV shop since they'll probably be able to pinpoint the problem quicker....  That's unless you know a good local ATV shop.

Also if it is just a fuel problem and you don't want to pull the carbs apart and get desperate.

Pull the plugs and put a tad bit of oil down there and put some junk plugs back in and turn it over for a few seconds or so a few times.  Then pull the plugs again and blow the oil out by turning it over.  Then repeat those steps a couple times and the last time the plugs are out make sure you blow out as much as you can by turning it over for a little longer.

Put fresh plugs in.

Either spray or dump a little gas straight down into the carb or use starter fluid but not a whole lot.

If you can get it to run keep choking off the engine with your hand and try to keep it running at a higher rpm so it will attempt to suck any mud and water out of the carbs.

Also make sure you drain all the fuel lines and tank.

This is what I'd do if I was desperate and I wouldn't use starter fluid unless I didn't like the engine much
