I have an 05 polaris sportsman 800.  It sat up for a week and a half while I put a 3" lift and snorkles on it.  Started it up and took it for a ride around the yard and when I stopped to let it idle it started spitting out coolant and said hot on the display.  I took the thermostat out and cut it so the coolant would just free flow still runs hot.  Then I took the cover off the waterpump and checked the impeller it seems to be fine.  Anyone have any ideas?

Is the fan running. Or the radiator may be clogged with mud

How does the fan sound when it is running?  Run a wire to the fan from the battery and see if the fans runs continously.  On my bike the bearings in the fan where bad and it would run for a little while and then lock up.
