I have a Rule 3300 lb winch on my foreman. I have 12.5volts at the solenoid and at the twist switch. I took the switch aprat last night and cleaned it. However, both before and after, I get a voltage fdrop to 6.75 volts when I engage the switch in either direction. This is a brand new battery I just installed last week. I have the same voltage at the winch motor. I need to perform one additional check before replacing the solenoid: place voltage directly on the winch and see if the motor still works. Any other suggestions?

I placed a positive lead and negative lead directly on the winch with no response other than sparking. I reversed the leads with the same result. Is this a legitimate to test on the motor?

sounds like the brushes in the motor
