Hey guys,

I'm looking for a tire recommendation for my 98 Honda Fourtrax 300 4x4.  I'm clueless to say the least.  I only hunt on my ATV in the mountains of Northeast Alabama and avoid mud like the plague.  I currently still have the original Goodyear ATT911's and 913's on it and they have done just fine for my use (I kinda just putt around like an old Granpa lol!).  I guess I'm looking for smoother riding tires more than I am super aggressive tread.  Also, puncture resistance is an important attribute to me as I ride my bike through and over a lot of fallen trees, clearcuts, etc.  I suppose I'll just stick with 23x8-11's on the front and 24x9-11's on the back as recommended in the manual, unless somebody sells me other wise (I kinda like having less ground clearance and lower CG due to the aggressive hills we climb from time to time....I'd be lying if I said I've never flipped at ATV in the mountains lol!).  Thanks in advance for any and all recommendations.

Also, CHEAP online sources for the recommended tires would be great as well.

Thanks

I would say go with the Terracross, or the Bighorns. For the type of terrain that you are riding I think that they would be the best choice for you.

Hey guys,

Thanks for those 2 recommendations, but I noticed looking around the web that neither of them come in an 11" rim size.  I would rather not buy new wheels.  Any other recommendations that come in 11"?

I second bear claws. While not as good on rocks and not as smooth, they are cheap and very good performers all around.  They do measure small, I would recommend 26's rear and 25's front. The would actually measure 25 and 24 respectively. Benefit: larger lugs on the 26 inch ones. I did run stock size bear claws on my old 300, but would recommend atleast 25/24's, but more so for the added traction.  Bear claws are extremely tough, never had a puncture after having 3 different sets for over 8 years.  8 years on one set, that also tells you that they wear REALLY slow.

BKT Wing tires come in a 11" rim, they are like some goodyear tires and bear claws.

I had 26" bear claws on my 2wd 300 honda for almost 5 years and never had a puncture in them. They impressed the heck out of me and wear like iron! Just gotta know how to work the four wheeler
