Well I set up a half ton chevy before and did a pretty good job. I was just wondering if there was a significant difference between a 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton?

Yes there is a difference. Leave that to someone who khows what they are doing. The 250 has a crush sleve on the pinion and you really have to know how to read the backlash or it will not be right. Its not like most half tons that have a washer on the pinion that can be changed to adjust for the backlash. If wrong you will get a howl or worse eat the ring and pinion up.
I have set up a many of ring and pinion and had someone do mine on my old truck for that reason.
