I want to shoot a deer with it like 50 yards away. I would not be able use the exsplosive rounds though.

Barret's are nice but put one thing in consideration (not mentioning the 9k price tag) Where would you shoot it???? There dangerous to shoot just anywhere.

I like the .338 luapa better. The 50.call has like 700 mg. gun powder. And I could get ride of those peskiy Rats. J/K

i like the 50.cal better cause it should be more accurate at long distance than the 338. but the 50. cal will leave a BIG HOLE!

i love the .50 i almost bought an AR a while back for fun but since i shoot NRA long range and tac matches I decided to spend more on my comp guns. I shoot a rem 700 PSS in the tac matches with a Leupold Mrk VI scope and cam custom stock, shillen trigger and shillen barrel. but man i would love the barret and shoot out in the plains.

Whats the point of even having one o these?? i mean wut u gonna hunt deer with it? lol jk.. one thing ID LOVE TO DO is get that first gun and hunt mountain goats out of the hills of colorado.. shooting the ones that are a mile away

The 338 would definitely be more practical. But having a .50 would be awesome no doubt. You know the 50s wont be around to buy much longer anyway. Check out the .416 Barrett came out with a while back. Its a little smaller than the 50 but has better range and speed.
